Staring with X-Wing "First Phantom List"

By KimO, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello,

my name is Kim from germany and i startet this month with X-Wing and it's a whole lot of fun for me. So i started to get some cheap expansions from my store after i learned the rules. My Goal is to participate on tourments around my Region and Play casual with a friend and my girlfriend. Now i need opinions for my first squads.

What I got so far:

Coreset 1

Coreset 2

Imperial Veterans

Rebell Aces

TIE Phantom (I really love this ship and want to Play it)

My Imperial Suad[100]:

Maarek Stele [35]
Tie/D [0]
Tractor Beam [1]
Wired [1]
37

Echo [30]
Advance Cloaking Device [4]
Crack Shot [1]
35

Deathfire [17]
Long Range Scanners [0]
Proximity Mines [3]
Proton Torpedos [4]
Proton Torpedos [4]
28

I am struggling with the Bomber because i also give two TIE Fighter a try, but i also like to use the Bomber to draw attention and reducing shields with his Torpedos for Maarek and Echo. I love the mobility of Echo but should be a Whisper work better?

Rebell [100]

Poe Dameron [31]
R2-D2 [4]
Wepaon Guidance [2]
37

Luke Skywalker [28]
BB-8 [2]
30

Keyan Farlander [29]
Enhanced Scope [1]
Tactican [2]
B-Wing/ E2 [1]
33

This build is my attemp to have 3 solid and tough ships that always fire first, when it Comes to a direct stand of.

My questions:

Are the lists solid for that what i own?

If i Play casual with this two squads is there any imbalence of power between both lists?

Can I go to tourments with one of the lists?

I want to buy Slave as next Expansion because i like Boba Fett and the some nice Tools in his Box, like Veteran Instincts and some cannons, is it worth for me?

I hope from some replys andexcuse my bad english. Long time ago in a far galaxy i was teched that language. Pracice i need :D

Dont be afraid to proxy upgrdes use r5 p9 on poe

Thank you.

I have Access to a Printer so i could make some prxys for casual gaming. After some practice games we've come to the conclusion that the imperial squad is too difficult to play and that the bomber is not efficient. So i tend to build a swarm with my two basicsets and a Countess as queen of the swarm because Echo is too hard to handle and Deathfire is to fragile for 28 invested Points.

Any further hints or suggestions?

i personally prefer echo as he's more unpredictable than whisper in addition I find that Stygium Particle Accelerator is used more often than ACD especially if you are focusing on maneuvering for the perfect shot rather than going in all guns blazing (I don't feel phantoms should compromise on defence) and it's cheaper. here's the Echo I run (unless your going straight to tournaments feel free to proxy)

Echo (30) ~ TIE/P

Agent Kallus (2) ~ Gonzales

Collision Detector (0) ~ TIE/SF

Outmaneuver (3) ~ TIE/D / EW

Stygium Particle Accelerator (2) ~ TIE/P

Total ~ 37

As for the bomber, I suggest replacing the second Proton Torpedoes with Extra Munitions to save some points (Extra Munitions costs 2 pts and doubles all Torpedoes, Missiles and Bombs on the ship) also I find long range sensors somewhat useless I would suggest guidance ships for 1 guaranteed hit, if you just want to reduce shields plasma torpedoes might suit you better

the list seems solid, mabee not turny level but i don't see any fatal flaws

Sadly the Firespray (Slave 1) lacks several key upgrades when played with imps, it's sadly only viable when played as scum

i really have no experience playing as rebels

Just based off what you got, I would probably roll with this:

Maarek Stele (36)
TIE Defender (35), Marksmanship (3), TIE/x7 (-2)

“Echo” (38)
TIE Phantom (30), Recon Specialist (3), Fire-Control System (2), Crack Shot (1), Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

"Deathfire" (25)
TIE Bomber (17), Proton Torpedoes (4), Cluster Mines (4), Long Range Scanners (0)

Get to a Summer Kit tourney at your LGS and you will get a nice predator card. Once you do, place that on Maarek (could then even go TIE /D w/ Tractor beam). Get your hands on a Veteran Instincts, lots are floating around as spring kits were handing them out recently.

If you get VI and Predator, you can go with:

Countess Ryad (35)
TIE Defender (34), Predator (3), TIE/x7 (-2)

“Echo” (40)
TIE Phantom (30), Recon Specialist (3), Fire-Control System (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Gamma Squadron Veteran (22)
TIE Bomber (19), TIE Shuttle (0), Crack Shot (1), Tactician (2)

Leaves you 3 pts for a bid which is nice for Echo to fire first

Poe Dameron [31]

R2-D2 [4]

Wepaon Guidance [2]

37

In terms of your Poe build, I don't recommend weapons guidance as Poe's ability is most useful when he carries a focus through the whole turn. If you use weapons guidance, you are spending the focus at ps8-10 before he can use his ability defensively at all.

I would recommend either swapping weapons guidance out for sensor cluster (so that he spends the focus after he is attacked, normally at lower PS), or getting rid of it completely and swapping r2-d2 for r5-p9 which will free up 3 points which you might like to spend on autothrusters and VI. Alternatively, look at swapping guidance for pattern analyser as it will let Poe get that focus token which he relies on after pulling a red maneuvre.

I have almost no experience with Phantoms other than being traumatised by them...

None of that helps the OP cause he doesn't own any of those cards you mentioned.

Apart from where he says in the 3rd post that he can make proxies.....

Thats now my actual List. The Poe had changed to simply R2D2 and it works really well against each other. I start to practise with a friend and then we go for further expansions and then tourments next month.
