rebels season 3 (spoilers may follow)

By Tirion, in Star Wars: Armada

Then that's bad television on the show's part which is what leads me to believe these are not the same Y-wings to attack the Death Star, not that it really matters. If they are then they're extremely important to the larger story, and exist as a connection between Rebels and ANH. In that sense if they're important then as a director or writer you should make sure to show or mention all of them returning.

Don't get me wrong I love the episode, this isnt even a criticism on my part, its excellently done but this may be a small slip up.

I disagree.

If they had failed and only brought 3 bombers back, I'm sure something would have been said on that!

But Hey, How's this for the Stickler!

Let us assume that only 3 Made it back...

That means that, of the 15 that were there, they had 3 surviving... Thats a 4:1 Ratio. Pretty Poor.

But I mean, Dodonna does even worse.

He has 8 Attack the Death Star, and only one comes back for a 7:1 Ratio!

Didn't Sabin say they had five? Or am I making that up?

"At Least we got the Y-Wings"

I loved Thrawn's voice, but his diction, his pacing, his volume, were disappointing. He sounded too gentle, where I wanted him to sound strong.

Aside from that, I loved the way they set him up as a long-term villain.

That was always the thing with Thrawn he didn't have to sound scary his actions provided all the fear needed.

Not scary. Just strong. I should be able to clearly hear his orders across a bridge that is in the middle of exploding, and the weight of his words should calm my panic.

But IMO, what he did to the rebel fleet at the end of the episode was scary enough, for now.

It was a Venator. I paused it and double checked the profile!

Glad I'm not the only one who did this.

Now that it's been shown in rebels, I'd say there is definitely a chance then that we see it in armada, given Arquitens half moon making it in and all

I did have a problem with the diction at first and even had to view the scene with him, Price and Tarkin to understand what he was saying. Also he's not human, but humanoid maybe Chis always sound like that.

Just to spite everyone. I hope we see an Assault Frigate mk2.

WITH GARM!

Why would it be spite again?

Only the part with Sabine, mate :P It was Ezra that said it but yeah, "The Phantom is gone, but at least we've got five new... eh-err, old bombers."

The Dodonna name drop was great, as was the usage of the gold-squadron Y-wing colours when Rebels has been pretty good at coming up with alternate colour schemes for existing ships, so it does feel like a majority of the Y-wings that were on the Death Star run. That said, these Y's still have some of their older cowling intact so that's a nice differentiation. Likewise, yeah, the special edition has 8 Y-wings on the approach shot at Yavin, but I only get a sense of colour and markings on the 4 closest while the second group of 4 are a ways off. (not saying they aren't exactly the same model, just saying it's plausible deniability).

Personally, I loved Thrawns diction and voice, and that's from someone who's only real exposure to him was from two or three a brief clips in TIE fighter where he does have that stronger tone. This newer version feels slightly alien and inhuman (similar in some respects to the odd cadence of the G-Man from half life), but with that little quip from Kallus regarding civilian casualties, this does feel like a more ruthless version of Thrawn in some ways. I like the different styles of Imperial leadership, which means I like the different visual and audio cues. Thrawn is the soft spoken one that doesn't necessarily need to shout across the bridge: everything is already going according to plan. And when it's not, you can use someone like a colour sergeant/captain in Pallaeon to do the bombastic shouting while Thrawn steeples his fingers and Mr. Burns' it up for the audience.

Good episode, getting darker than the earlier offerings that's for sure, but things feel like they're growing in scope which, naturally, works full well with the notion of the growing rebellion. I am wondering about this '7th fleet', how big is it and are all Imperial war fleets are designated like that? It's the little things that count, like that Venator model in Tarkin's office.

Speaking of little things, did anyone else catch what the Bandu called the light/dark side of the Force? Ashla and Bogan. I've heard that Lucas wanted to use those names for the two different sides of the Force.

So what are you saying? That Australia is the land of the Dark Side?

I take offence at that.

According to my other half yes, but she's afraid of spiders.

As an ExPat Australian....

Get rid of the Bogans, and then we'll talk.

Had anyone what heard the rumor that rebels was not made to go post three our four seasons?

FPJ let slip on Twitter a while back that, basically, They were apparently Paid up and agreed to 5, almost right from the start.

But they do a season renewal announce for Publicity's sake.

Had anyone what heard the rumor that rebels was not made to go post three our four seasons?

I havent but it makes sense. All of those characters are going to have to die.

Only Kanan.

The rest can all be off doing something else. Helping other Cells, being out of the fight, depressed into the dark side, etc, etc, etc.

But Kanan has to die for Yoda to not be an outright liar about "The Last of the Jedi you will be." .

I wonder about this. I mean, I've always sorta suspected that Ezra and Kanan would end up dead, or have some weird pulled-punch where they just had to give up their connection to the force, etc. (with that little last quip about always coming back, I keep wondering if Kanan will end up as a force ghost by the end of the season).

Anyway, if we go by the Kenobi philosophy, Kanan was never a genuine Jedi and he said as much during that council with Asoka, just a padawan that escaped which doesn't make him a Jedi per se. "So you see, what I told you was true... from a certain point of view."

Perhaps. Certainly, The Kenobi Philosophy may apply. I will also use that in my daily life.; The Kenobi Philosophy...

Obi-wan is a goddamn liar after all. :D Which is why I was focused on Yoda. Because he has a connection to these people, and he'd know that Kanan had been granted the Rank of Knight by the Spirits of the Temple... I mean, Yoda's rocked up there in spirit form twice now, he'd know these things.

Asokha, well, Never a Jedi, and she doesn't call herself a Jedi - right to Ani's face. But Kanan does consider himself a Jedi... So, yeah. He's got to go.

Yeah, very very much so :P I'm just figure it's worth a look to see if the writers can wriggle their way out of not killing off main characters that are still bankable.

If anyone could do it, I hope its Thrawn.
