my first Imperial fleet

By Kikaze, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

so, i am about to start an Imperial fleet. right now i only have the core set contents, plus several cards from various rebel expansion packs.

seeing as the victory is the only ship i got, i think my options are down to 3:

1) a fleet with an overload pulse victory and a kitted out imperial class, backed up by flotillas and squadrons. doesnt sound too great-an interdictor would be a better choice, making my victory less than ideal.

2) a victory-class rhymerball fleet. that sounds effective.

3) a fleet with two victory class and an interdictor slowing things down to stay in their front arc, with numerous TIEs to hold enemy bombers. idk how good this is, but i like the sound of it-seems distinctly imperial.

so i think i'll take option 3. here is my first attempt, so pitch in before i start buying stuff:

points: 391

commander: Konstantine

Interdictor supression refit

-Tractor Beams, g8 projectors, targeting scramblers, Interdictor, Wulf Yularen, Projection Experts, sw-7 Ion cannons

(this has a ton of upgrades, but isnt that expensive for a flagship. tank/healer)

victory I-class

-h9 turbolasers, ordnance experts, assault proton torpedoes, Titus

victory I-class

-h9 turbolasers, ordnance experts, assault proton torpedoes

Howlrunner

5 x TIE fighters

objectives: Advanced Gunnery, Contested Outpost, Minefields

Drop the SW7s, you want those accs generally.

Assault proton torps are mainly unnecessary here, indeed acms or expanded launchers would do far more.

Any other squads available? Tie fighters are a poor meatshield.

well, while i don't have(currently dont own) other squadrons, i am open to buying. either i build a fleet or i dont :P i just don't have experience with what would be good in this situation imperial-side. its not as simple as "rhymer, dengar, vader + tie bombers".

regarding the sw-7s, ok, dropping them and replacing apts with acms; thats actualy +1 point leftover. any advice on what kind of squadrons i could use for cover?

Rhymer with a mix of tie advanced and tie bombers would only require 1 squad pack. The ships can take a fair hit so the advanced will slow things down, then rhymer lets you put em to use against low squads list.

i am worried that the advanced will fall easier than just numbers of ties... perhaps adding darth vader as one of the TIE advanced for the braces ?... havent calculated points costs yet ofc...

what about tie advanced and TIES due to escort? (i.e. vader + fel?)

That would work for defence very well. Less good for attacking ships.

Dengar + howlrunner can make vanilla tie fighters worth flying as a fighter screen.

For what you have I like your thinking. Couple of thoughts tho: dump yularen for intell officer, and try to work in quad laser turrets for better anti squadron defense for when your ties get melted down.

Victory class star-destroyers.. Old outdated, slow tubs No E.C.M. Option.. NOPE... I.S.D. every time.
