Basic question for RtL: Market deck

By l.comsimwork, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Very basic question, but one that I cannot wrap my head around:

When is the market deck reshuffled? Specifically, when is it shuffled after a Hero loses a weapon to the Crushing Blow card?

I know that the deck is reshuffled after items are sold, and after Market items were not purchased (page 22, under "The Market"). But what about items that are discarded/lost/dropped? Is there an official answer in the FAQ that I missed?

Thanks!

I'm not sure there is an official answer, but I believe that all discarded cards are reimplemented into the stack. After all, if you had to remove the cards from the game, then your chest draws would be pretty slim. This is of course for the RtL expansion. In vanilla Descent, I remove them from the game.

I shuffle the decks whenever a card is returned to them for some reason.

So for Crushing Blow, dropping a weapon, etc., I shuffle the decks immediately.

But I don't know that that is official.

The treasure decks (copper, silver and gold) are all resuffled at the end of the game week. All discarded/destroyed copper, silver, or gold items are *gone* during the week they're lost. It is possible that the treasure decks will be emptied during the course of a week.

The market [deck] is never re-shuffled (shuffling it is point-less), instead destroyed/discarded town items are immediatly returned to the market.

That's how we treat the town market at least.

Whoops - I did mean the copper treasure deck ... you are correct, shuffling the market deck is rather pointless sonrojado.gif

There was a discussion of this on BGG (among other things) sometime back were it was pointed out that in vanilla Descent, the treasure decks are not reshuffled. Since these rules are supposed to be in effect unless specifically changed by RtL, then one shouldn't add the lost card back in.

So, if FFG would make a clear ruling ... just want to make sure we are following the design intent.

From the v1.4 FAQ:

Q: Are items destroyed by Crushing Blow placed in the
graveyard?
A: No. Those items are discarded, and the next time the
treasure deck is shuffled they will be shuffled back into
the deck.

From the drtl rulebook:

Items can also be sold at the Market, for half their purchase
price. Sold items are re-shuffled into the decks they came from.

At the end of a given week, any treasure items that were not
purchased from the Market are re-shuffled into the decks they
came from.

I believe these rules imply that discarded cards are shuffled into their respective decks at the end of each week. This not implicitly stated, but It not too big a jump in logic.

The graveyard box, is only used when a lieutenant is killed. I believe there's a rumor card that can put an overlord upgrade in the graveyard too (don't have cards at work). I believe the graveyard is the only way a card is gone for good, as far as I know, an item can never find it's way to the graveyard [box].

That clears it up. I think I've been proceeding like that (except for Crushing Blow, though I've never used it).

Yes - that clears it up! Thanks for the find ... the Heroes will be happy.

Same. This sadly ironically leads to weapons that were CB'd 4 rounds ago reappearing in the chest in the next room, but hey, thats the breaks I guess
