New Player: What comes next?

By sucho23, in Star Wars: Armada

So the Hastings in my area are going out of business and I jumped into the fray of Star Wars Armada. I have not played it yet with my gaming group but I have the following items good to go.

Armada Core Set

Dice Set

CR 90 Corvette Expansion

Nebulan B Frigate Expansion

Assault Frigate Mark 2

Once past the core set introduction with the group what do I need to pick up next to balance out what I mass bought from the 60% off sale? What imperials ships should I get to bring the game back into balance for the next step?

Rebels only or both?

Glad, both fighter packs, ISD, Home One.

Sorry. Based on what I was able to pick up what should I get next Imperial wise to bring things back into balance when we move up to 300 point builds?

Both fighter packs offer a lot and Gladiators are great.

I agree with TallGiraffe on the Gladiator and Fighter packs. You might also consider a couple of Imperial Raiders. I have been debating picking up an Armada box or 2 since they are 60 percent off at my local Hastings, I just don't know if I can justify getting them since I already have 2 core sets plus an extra VSD, Nebulon B and 3 CR90s plus more TIE fighters and X-wings than I will ever use.

What do you have in all emfrank?

Isd and gozantis, as well as gladiator

I updated my signature to reflect current collection. I have some wave 5 ships on order but don't remember quantities, probably 2 of each.

What comes next?

You play a lot of this game and fall in love with it. You spend a good amount of money to get any fleet that your heart desires. Then you play more and more and go to tournament after tournament because you can't get enough.

Then just when you have it "figured out" a new wave comes out that changes everything. You spend more money because you need the new things. You play more and more trying to fiddle with the nuances and learning more and more about the game. You continue to be amazed at the replay-ability and balance inherent to the game. You refresh your browser every other minute hoping for a preview article of the next wave. You hope that the new FAQ comes out to answer all of the new questions.

That is what comes next.

Welcome.

Welcome to the game my biggest piece of advice when just starting is don't listen to everyone saying by 75 of these and 47 of those. Get yourself fighter packs and past that buy what your think is cool. One of the best parts about this game is its incredibly well balanced compared to virtually every other minis game out there. So get what your want build 400 points and have fun!
