Ichiro Skirmisher [Path for the Boar Clan]

By Derrigan Bluewave, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

Heichi Skirmisher [bushi]

In their isolated mountains, the Ichiro were sometimes beset by multiple opponents. This led them to create a way to deal with such an experience.

Rank: 2

Replaces: Heichi Bushi 2

Technique

Twin Tusks of the Boar – The Boar can strike two opponents at the same time. When using the Extra Attack maneuver, you only need 3 raises to employ it, and the extra attack must be used against a different opponent. This can only be used with a Mai-Chong.

Note: I do not want to add a Void point cost to this, or limit it to once per encounter. To make use of this, you still need to have Void 3, or the advantage that lets you limit the raises by your Skill, which means you need at least Kenjutsu 3 in addition to that advantage. I have decided to limit it by forcing you to use the Extra Attack against another opponent. This means that if you fight one opponent, this technique will not do you any good.

Also, to use it, you actually need to call 3 raises, and succeed on the roll, which is usually (with 3 raises) TN 30 - 40. Not always an easy thing to do unless you are set up for it (Agility 4 + Spears 4-5). And even then it's not always guaranteed to succeed.

Ichiro is the Badger Clan...

The Boar are made up of the Heichi family.

Extra actions are powerful. Some skill masteries give this effect, but on very weak weapons (knives). Only one school I can think of gives this as part of one of their high rank techniques (mirumoto had this as part of their rank 5 tech, yes? )

This makes a rank 2 minor clan bushi more potent with a heavy weapon than a hida, and that is no good.

At the VERY least, make it require a void point to use, limit the weapon it is viable to use it for, and it can only be done once a skirmish. I'll need to get home and look at my books to make a proper comparison, but off the top of my head this is too good for the rank, and doesn't really fit what alternate paths are intended to do.

I changed it a bit.

Also, the Hida pragmatist allows you to use the Extra Attack maneuver for only 3 raises, with unarmed attacks or an improvised weapon.

Neither of which are terribly powerful.

I'd change the ability to only work with the Boar Clan's signature weapon, the mai-chong, or to work a little more easily with it
