While we might see a preview, merchandise seems unlikely- Force Friday is mostly a big box thing, and frankly, X-wing doesn't sell well at big box stores- It just doesn't make enough money in their toy section to merit the space it needs. And the lack of space for demo events hurts as well.

I'm starting to think SWX58 is not Rogue One-related, though, given where it falls in the lineup. Last few SKUs were:

SWX53 - ARC-170 (Prequels)

SWX54 - TIE/sf (Episode 7)

SWX55 - Protectorate Fighter (Rebels)

SWX56 - Shadow Caster (Rebels)

SWX57 - Heroes of the Resistance (Episode 7)

SWX58 - ???

SWX59 - Sabine's TIE (Rebels)

SWX60 - Upsilon (Episode 7)

SWX61 - Quadjumper (Episode 7)

SWX62 - U-Wing (Rogue One)

SWX63 - TIE Striker (Rogue One)

...so SWX58 is in the middle of a batch of 'Rebels' and 'Episode 7' stuff. More Episode 7 feels unlikely given that we've, at this point, had released just about everything possible to release from Episode 7

I don't think we should think in thematic "batches", except for R1, which is a special case, like TFA was, the rest of the ships is as always sorted in Rebel-Imperial-Scum order, it doesn't matter where do they come from.

For this reason it can't be a new Scum or Imperial small or large ship, might be a new Rebel small/large ship but it wouldn't make sense to add another one.

It might be a core set (unlikely, separated and R1 sets have red letters), repaint box (IMO unlikely, two in a row, my dream Rebel Veterans can still be under SWX64 ), epic ship (that's my bet) or something boring like mats, bases or dials.

As to why it wasn't announced yet, it doesn't have to contain spoilers, keep in mind that few days ago, before Wave IX dropped, we had two waves, a repaint box and a R1 add-on to wave X, 4+3+2+2=11 ships to look for! Now there is still 7 ships announced and unreleased, it's not like we are starving for some new info like Armada fans used to not so long ago.

Hopefully we don't get that one...which would not be without precedent, anyway - there are plenty of shuttles we don't have, yet. (FFG seems happy to focus on the more combat-oriented designs)

im gonna laugh when they announce SWX58 will be the rogue one starter. partisan x wing vs tie striker and normal tie or something and the ofrums have to face the idea of a new starter for every movie

For anyone mentioning SWX58 may be a new mat, I would have to mention that existing mats are listed under a different SKU ID (SWS), so it is highly unlikely SWX58 is a new mat. Though based on the fan-made StarKiller base mat posted on the forums a bit ago, I think a TFA mat would look neat.

IIRC, last years announcement was the day after things were released - technically the same day but stuff went on sale at midnight and I think the article went up the next morning. Might be wrong.

Hopefully nothing considering we just got the official release of wave 9 less than a week ago. Seriously, play with your just-released toys before wishing for new ones.

I don't know for a fact if anything will be announced on Rogue Friday, but here are some thoughts of mine.

If there is going to be an announcement, here are some things we do know. Disney is in charge of the whole operation, and they REALLY want to advertise Rogue One. This much can be assumed safely. Wave 9 is likely done with releases/announcements, as we have had 4 new ships and an accompanying "aces" expansion with HotR. So if there is an announcement, it will likely fall in line release date-wise with Wave 10. Disney wanting to advertise, in my mind, is a good sign for an X-Wing announcement this friday, as Disney probably won't let FFG get away with doing nothing for this special occasion.

My current theories are as follows: If there is an announcement, it will HAVE to be Rogue One related, meaning one of the following: A new core set, with a Partisan T-65 and possibly TIE Strikers? I personally doubt that 2 Strikers to 1 X-Wing balances, so they may just release it with TIE Fighters, as there are plenty of those in Rogue One as well. A core set is a safe bet, because Core Sets can be sold to the masses fairly easily, whereas expansions cannot. This fulfills requirement A, which is advertising.

Or, it'll be a Partisan Veterans type expansion, with X-Wings and very likely Y-Wings, as both have a strong presence in the movie. This could be the case if FFG decides it wants to focus on it's existing audience, rather than bring new players into the game. I personally suspect it will be a core set nonetheless, but i must admit i would vastly prefer a veterans expansion. Then again, FFG could package an X-Wing fix or just other very useful cards for X-Wings in the core set, and include a decent amount of them, which could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

I think it is going to be X Wing: Ground Assault.

Well I don't you know if this helps but FB just had an add up for Rogue Friday and it had a Lego AT-ST kit....so there's definitely Star Wars stuff releasing Friday, just don't know if it's X Wing at all

And I was actually talking with my roommate and I was thinking along the same lines of the new Falcon/Poe repainted being released as well
