Happy Friday

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

This week was terrible, in fact it is the worst week of my 35 year old life. I lost a 13 year job which will provide me no way to provide for my family (no severance package) and my son might be autistic according to his Ped. So today sucks.

However it give me a chance to evaluate things and have a fresh start over with a new Career and just maybe talk my wife into a game of Armada (she kind of hates it). Reminder Be kind to other people on the forums and in real life you have no idea what they are going through. Happy Friday and good weekend kids.

(sorry for dumping after spending 17 hour days for the last 6 looking for new work I feel a bit done)

:( And I thought I was having a rough week.

Good luck, man. Too bad "nicest and most optimistic Internet person ever" isn't a more marketable skill...

Hang in there, Cubanboy! I know things suck now, but things will get better. Will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Just be wary of the article starved individuals.

This week's post is near and dear to my heart Cubanboy. My 5 year old son is autistic. It is not a bad thing to get the diagnosis, but with early therapy (and I really mean you and your wife concentrating on socializing skills) it can become ever so much beter than you fear right now.

There will be issues, developmental delays, and be careful around water, but if you can develop the social skills of a child you enjoy being around, it will all be easier. If it ever gets you down, please, drop me a PM. I've been there, and sometimes it helps to have an ear to bend that understands.

Keep plugging away at the job front. We are all pulling for you!

Keep on keepin' on, Cuban.

If you need to talk, just send a PM. I have been in your career shoes before, and it isn't easy - just make sure you are taking care of yourself.

You're having a bad time. =(

Try finding a way you can play and she can be around perhaps?

I can't say I have ever been in your shoes. But, things will continue on. You'll eventually find work and you'll raise your son like a good father.

I suppose the only person who I know who sucked the marrow out of being canned was my father. And that was back when I worked with him. He got let go in spring and eventually found a position by the fall.

What did he do during those few months? He would wake up, make coffee and breakfast, do his hour of online job searching, put in for his unemployment benefits every Thursday, then he would go riding on his Motorcycle or go drink with my retired uncle. Practically every day. He made the best of being a 50 something who was out of work for the 2nd time in less than a decade.

I know it doesn't sound like you're going to have a lot of leisure time on your hands, but it will pass, and be sure to make the most of it.

And if you magically move to Luzurne County Pennsylvania, hit me up. My employer is so desperate for shop associates, I could absolutely get you a job. :)

I wish you the best. You definitely deserve it with your positive attitude.

The best thing that could have happened to me was about when I was your age, 10 years ago. I left a longtime job and started a new career. It has been fantastic. I hope it all goes well with you too.

I'm sure it will.

Now a totally other thing is getting your wife into Armada. I would have to file for divorce if I tried that. That I would caution you about.

Thank you guys.

I know today everything is going to be ok. Off to more looking for jobs, I kind of hope I can find something international and move to England. :-)

CubanBoy,

Ive only had personal experience on the job side of things but all the luck in the world.

Not sure what your trade is, but if its software/IT/or engineering related drop me a pm, i may be able to help.

All the luck in the world!
