TIE Defender is now canon: Battlefront!

BUT IT'S THERE.

TIE DEFENDERS ARE OFFICIALLY PART OF THE STAR WARS CANON.

Edited by Captain Lackwit

They already were, through Star Wars: Commander.

But Good show, regardless :D

It is good to see it in motion again.

I dare say this canon/EU/Legends/back to canon thing is annoying

A Tie Defender at the Batte of Yavin? Interesting.

I was hugely excited when I found out about this a few days ago, so I'm glad to see I'm not alone!

This is by far the best set of maps for Fighter Squadron mode (though it still controls wonky, IMO). I highly recommend Battlefront plus this expansion to any fan of online shooters and Star Wars.

Unfortunately it's so heavily casualized that it makes Rogue Squadron 2 look like DCS:A-10.

The exact time frame of this game is up for questioning. Greedo can run around in the ruins amidst the major battle at Jakku, so it's clearly a mingling of anything from the original trilogy. The Death Star map, in particular, is a melding of the original Death Star and the Death Star II, as the trench run section features the familiar style combined with the internal plus-shaped architecture that Lando barely flew through.

Yeah, it's definitely lacking in depth and refinement regarding the controls, but there's notable improvement with this latest patch! Lock-on can't be endlessly abused; the targeting computer has a slowly-building red indicator reminiscent of a weapon overheating, and requires you to line up your shots quickly and efficiently when holding down the left trigger, otherwise, you're aiming manually. The Interceptor and TIE/ln are differentiated in their cooldown abilities, as are the X-Wing and A-Wing, and cooldowns seem to be reduced in general.

Ultimately, flying around a gorgeous Star Destroyer amid a space battle is just too cool to pass up. Dodging asteroids and debris, then using them as cover from enemy fire is a treat to experience.

I'd kill for a full-fledged Rogue Squadron-esque game with this level of fidelity and polish.

I never had much of an issue with the flight other than how broken the A-Wing's hitbox was.

Nice, although I also get annoyed at all this EU/Legends/canon/not canon/but now it is stuff.

Regarding the game I thought it was pretty terrible, although it looks fantastic and sounds awesome. The gameplay just needs a complete overhaul in general.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the inevitable sequel. Should fix some of the problems. *fingers crossed*

Why get annoyed? It was never canon, any of it, as demonstrated by Lucas' interpretation of Mandalore.

The team in charge of lore actually gives a ****.

I feel like Wendig being approved at all puts the nails so deep into that particular coffin that whoever pulls them out would be crowned Queen of the Naboo.

One example out of the various really good ones?

At the very least they could have added a single player, offline campaign mode ala Halo.

Yeah, so they added defenders, tie bombers, y-wings and b-wings as box pickups, but don't actually let you fly them? Pretty sure there will be another dlc you have to buy if you wanna be them...

I'm more astounded that there is actually campaign-like DLC for that game.

I've never felt more shafted by a Star Wars game than the new Battlefront!

But, I think I will NOW pick it back up!

Being in Battlefront definitely doesn't make things canon.

You can have Palpatine & Vader fighting alongside Boba Fett and Greedo at the Battle of Jakku...have the Star Wars Story Group signed this off as 'really' happening?

The events of the game matches are not canon, but the various characters, ships, and equipment in the game are.

More "mediocre" than "really good", though I'll grant that the EU has the same issue, we've just had time to pick out all the good stuff and nucanon isn't there yet.

Give it time, we'll get even better stuff as time goes on.

Glad to see the Tie Defender come back in its full glory again.

People who are still confused as to whether this game is canon just need to remember that any events that occur in game and the layout of the environments, are not canon, whereas ships, vehicles and weapons are.

I will be picking this up once it's available to non-season pass holders.

Its there! But what an easy kill .. lol

I wished they remade TIE FIGHTER with this awesome graphics and effects. This and X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I've owned Battlefront for nearly a year now. The level of detail and polish is astounding. The level of content is sorely lacking. I rarely play but when I do it's all about Fighter Squadron.

So the game updated and I jumped on. First of all FS is now much harder. That's cool, I just wish I could spin properly.

Then I saw it. That triple-winged beast flew across me and took out a Rebel ship. I was amazed! My favourite TIE is in the game, and canon!!!

It is a shame I can't pilot it, but I did end up following them round for ages just to see them in HD glory. They made for a lovely sight.

I've not picked any of the DLC as I have nearly zero interest in the ground stuff at the moment. The Death Star though? I might have to get that.

That game seems to be 99% graphics, 1% gameplay.

It will feel right at home, in this dark "Era of HD".
