Xizor + Guri

By Epixca, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am proud of myself for thinking up this one.

-Xizor

VI

AT

Glitterstim

AS

Title

-Guri

Lone Wolf

AT

-Palob

Bodyguard

Gonk

Cloaking Device

Here is the strat. Guri goes around and flanks. Xizor and Palob stick together. At the start Palob will use gonk non-stop to rack up shields on the card. Once the fights start, Xizor will kick butt, and Palob will cloak, steal a focus, and use Bodyguard. You will have 2 ships with 4 agility. No matter what, Palob will take the damage. Weather they attack him or not. Then Gonk will restore his shields. So, what do you think? Last thoughts, should I have Predator on Xizor to make him more powerful? FCS instead of AS? I need help.

Should I swap AS with FCS? And should I swap VI with Predator?

With the new Starviper MK II title you can free up 6 more points for this list.

I was thinking maybe Sensor Jammer for Xizor, as Palob can steal someone's focus. Expertise instead of VI lets him target lock still.

There's also enough points now for the Moldy Crow title, so if you really slow roll you can bank a few shield and focus tokens.

Maybe not competetive but it looks like fun!

Very nice idea!

Probably. If Guri was the Virago, I'd consider Advanced Sensors, because she wants to sabre-dance around people at range 1, but Xizor wants to be used aggressively, trusting in the fact he has his disposable meatshield trusted henchman to soak the damage - but that means staying in range 1 of a (fairly unwieldy) HWK - which means no silly maneuvers, so Fire Control is probably the way to go to up the amount of damage he can do whilst 'safe'.

Sensor Jammer is also definitely a good idea with Palob in the vicinity! If you take that option, I'd say Predator for an elite upgrade.

I doubt you'd have enough time to build up both focus tokens and gonk shields. More importantly, since (a) you need an action to pull a shield off gonk, as well as just put one on, and (b) you need a supply of focus tokens to keep bodyguard up and running, I suspect that ditching Gonk in favour of a recon specialist and going with Recon Specialist/Moldy Crow and a deluge of focus tokens might be good - that way, you've got plenty to feed Bodyguard (reducing the number of hits Xizor takes and hence the number he slings at you) plus you have a stock of focus tokens to use with your own green dice if someone bypasses Xizor and trys to take palob out first.

Yes, theoretically he can power bodyguard with stolen tokens, but 90% of the time people will just respond by target locking instead if they have the option. Consider it a threat/bonus rather than assuming it'll happen.

I'd consider Intensity on Guri. With her ability, she tends to boost and barrel roll a lot (seeking range 1), plus with her ability generating free focus tokens it's easier than with a lot of ships to avoid ending a turn with Intensity exhausted. Plus, most importantly, it's a way to give a starviper an evade token!

On top of this, intensity rather than lone wolf lets guri get into the fight without losing her elite upgrade's effectiveness - Dash Rendar likes lone wolf because a heavy laser cannon can pelt people from range 3 with no real loss of effectiveness, but Guri needs to point at her opponent to attack them and desperately wants to be in close range.

Finally, a starviper....isn't actually that fast . With intensity, you can boost and barrel roll a-go-go, making up for the extremely manouvrable but rather slow dial.

Starviper Mk2 is a given - which as noted gives you a load of extra points to play with.

  • Xizor - Virago, Starviper MkII, Predator, Sensor Jammer, Inertial Dampeners, Autothrusters
  • Guri - Starviper MkII, Intensity, Autothrusters
  • Palob Godahli - Moldy Crow, Bodyguard, Recon Specialist, Cloaking Device

Does cost you glitterstim from your original plan -
