So... Fang Generics

By Schyzo Kitty, in X-Wing

What's the view on those guys. Would you rather play:

LIST A

Concord Dawn Veteran (25) x 4
Protectorate Starfighter (22), Concord Dawn Protector (1), Autothrusters (2)

LIST B

Concord Dawn Veteran (25) x 4
Protectorate Starfighter (22), Fearlessness (1), Autothrusters (2)

or LIST C

Concord Dawn Ace (25) x 4
Protectorate Starfighter (23), Fearlessness (1), Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Or is there some other combo that I can't think of at the moment.

5 vanilla Zealots and Veterans with PTL come to my mind as well.

Any lists you think might make it to competetive play?

I'm not sure. Maybe List A? Or....half of List A and half of B?

I don't know if the title is a good fit with Autothrusters, since it wants you close and in arc and Autothrusters wants anything but that.

Pairing the Title and Fearlessness seems like it could be good, but I suspect that those cards won't trigger as frequently as you'd expect. I'd rather play something like this instead:

4x Concord Dawn Veteran (22), Autothrusters (2), Crack Shot (1)

If each ship only lands the bonus from Fearlessness once per game, then Crackshot effectively gives you the same benefit without the range restriction (though, you lose some effectiveness against the Decimator and VCX). Without a compulsion to zip into range 1, you can play to your Autothruster-fuelled strengths and try to keep engagements at Range 3.

If you're sold on pairing Fearlessness with the Title, List C isn't bad (if only because PS5 gives you a PS advantage over Contracted Scouts and Black Squadron Pilots)... but I would be tempted to break the symmetry. Run four Concord Dawn Veterans with Title and Fearlessness, and give two of them Autothrusters to preserve a little bit of your defensive advantage.

Sadly, I'm not sure how strong this kind of list will be... I think you'd be better off with three "aces" instead of four decent Fang fighters. If the PS1 generic clocked in at 19, so you could run them with Title, perhaps five of those suckers would be worth it. But four Fangs seem worse than a typical TIE swarm: they're not packing enough of a numerical, offensive, or defensive advantage to really intimidate many of the popular lists.

I'm planning on starting with option C

I've flown c a couple times and had fun. For everyone saying you don't want or need auto thrusters though, you don't use them for range 3. You use them for turrets

Fearlessness is really really bad on the PS3 generics. You should celebrate if you get it to trigger even once a game per ship unless you're up against swarm.

You're much better off with Attanni in my opinion.

I've tried 2 of the PS3 version with Asajj. They hold up to defenders.

The ps 3 generics are great with fearless/title/autothrusters; paired with asajj and you have a quality list.

They're for different situations. Allows you to work on your target @ range one, while still having defense from enemy turrets/enemies that may be at range 3.

Title and autos is a nice combination because the only time you're NOT guaranteed at least one evade if you have a focus token, is when you're at range 2 in arc, or at range 1 in arc but you don't have arc on them.

It gives you an awful lot of places to go where your lack of the evade action doesn't sting quite as much.
