Own FAQ for wave 3+4 because there is non so far

By Tokra, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I started to make my own FAQ list of the new cards. With all the questions i got asked so far, or that i found somewhere.

Now, that there is sitll no new FAQ i wanted to share it at least. And ask anyone who has any other question or note for it to add them.

Own FAQ on Mos Eisley Raumhafen (german forum)

There is as well a PDF of the list.

These notes are my opinion of the rules and does not mean they are settled or something. And anyone who has another opinion, i am up for any idea of improvement.

I dont agree on some of these (like Jamming Field or Veteran Gunners for example), but they are my rating of the current rules. And not of my idea how these cards they should work.

Looks pretty good, but what's the reasoning behind Veteran Gunners?

Yeah, really can't agree with that one. The rest is pretty good, but that one I feel is.... pretty wrong :D

The reason behind the veteran gunner is that there is no rule if you can do the same step twice in the attack.

To perform an attack with a squadron or ship, resolve the following steps:

3. Resolve Attack Effects: The attacker can resolve attack effects as described below:
◊ Modify Dice: The attacker can resolve any of its effects that modify its dice. This includes card effects and the Concentrate Fire command.
◊ Spend Accuracy Icons: The attacker can spend one or more of its Accuracy icons to choose the same number of the defender’s defense tokens. The chosen tokens cannot be spent during this attack.

There is no word about the order in what these two should be done, nor if you can do them more than once.

In teh FAQ i assume that you have to do these step in the order and cannot do them more than once.

You do the modify dice. And in this step you can do as many modify dice effects as you want.

After this you go on to the spend accuracy step and can spend any number of accuracy icons.

The bad part is that the diamond icon is really not fitting for this step. In all other parts of the FAQ the diamond is only used to numerate effects or conditions.

I dont really agree with this as well. I would say you can do these steps as many times you you want and in any order you want. But there is not word that you can do it.

And in this case (no knowing what is the right) i take the nearest fitting to the rules.

The same as with the jamming field. The optional part was stupid and i was guessing it is wrong. But by the rules it was optionally.

The reason why we disagree with the literal assertion there is:

SPEND itself, is a Modify Dice Effect .

You are doing Modify Dice effects, all the same time. You can go back and forth with your own Modify Dice effects, of which spend is simply one of them .

The only reason it is specified in the rulebook as a separate dot point, is because it does not require an upgrade card to do, so its in the rules instead of an Upgrade card.

Except there is no spend accuracy step. It's all one modify dice step. And here you can pick in what order to resolve stuff.

I have to agree you can spend the acc dice then use veteran gunners on the remaining dice.

Looking quite nice otherwise.

The explanation of Toryn seems off though "When the ship with Toryn is attacking squadrons, the effect of the reroll may be used on each of the squadron attacks." She just doesn't give the reroll to her own ship.

Good points. I changed it.

Comms net note:

The wording on this card is such that you can:

- stack up a token on round n, then keep it without passing it on

- reveal a new command on round n+1, declare you're keeping the dial for use, then pass on the stored token

This lets you keep a key token banked, while the flotilla can do other stuff.
