Came up in a game I had last night.

When you attack a squadron with Counter X, can you spend a defence token to avoid damage from the Counter attack?

Yes.

Counter attacks are, for all intents and purposes, attacks.

Which means you follow the Flowchart for Attack rules, which includes the use of Defense Tokens

Which, also means all of those things that apply "while Attacking" such as Toryn Farr, Howlrunner, etc, will apply to a Counter Attack.
