My Nationals List: A discussion

By SRIOS, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Hey All, I've got a list I've played quite a lot of and had a lot of success with in my Local meta (Rebel hero Box, Imp troopers and Scum strain attack) and I thought I might share it here. Given that I want to take this to my Local Nats, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on how you think it would fair against your "Meta" lists? What do you think it will struggle against, what are it's short comings and what strategies might you employ against it/for it?

The idea in practice behind This list is that I hide and Focus as much stuff as I can, Davith can charge in and assassinate annoying units like C-3p0, gideon etc, lando is a boss and deals dmg and live far longer than he should and the rebel sabs are the hidden damage, able to decimate troopers thanks to blast, or heavy units thanks to Pierce and stun. The smuggler is there for capping, cards and activation. I use my command deck to mainly ruin my opponents plans with things like Strategic shift, comms disrupt and camouflage.

Good looking list. In ways of optimizing it, I guess the only thing I would change was dropping a unit of sabs and diplomatic for Obi-wan and RHC. But It won't improve the list that much, maybe not at all. I like Obi for some of the scenarios.

How often do you give 3Po Hide? It looks like a lot of tip-toeing and dancing around. You want to be close, but not too close for almost all of those deployments. (Lando, Murne and Sabs all have limited range, Davith has melee)

You must have really practiced to get good at figuring out where you need to be.

Murne is the only real weak link in my mind, just because I've not had great luck with him, getting his abilities to go off (maybe my opponents hoard their command cards too much)

I think Lock On would be a great addition to your command card deck and a way more useful card than Force Illusion (if Davith dies early that card is worthless, where as you'll still have 3 other heavy sabs to use Lock On, if one of them dies.

Yeah, I was thinking of Murne too as the one to swap out. I thought about taking her(?) out to upgrade Davith to maybe Leia and then adding in RHC. But as far as command cards go, having two force user cards for just Davith (who in my experience dies fairly quickly if he's your lone melee character), I would probably swap out force illusion. I would definitely add lock on, but if you want to keep a force user card the one that makes the most sense for Davith is Force Surge since he'll already want to be adjacent for his attack.

Murne is a female

I've never used Force Illusion...just not enough bang for your points. Force Surge is dynamite.

I also agree that Murne doesn't really work well. Perhaps you could drop Murne and the Smuggler and perhaps a Targetting Computer for Obiwan?

Yeah, Force illusion rarely procs, I'm actually thinking of swaping that out for slippery target, to stop melee list from rushing me, and to trigger when people try to walk adjacent to Davith to ensure they can actually hit him. Force surge is also great value for a command card.

This list generally gets card advantage, and if I draw planning on the first turn then I can hide someone straight away, also later in the game strategic shift lets me get of her ability regardless as well. I generally use Murne to hide the Sabs early on in the game, and c3p0 or gideon later if they might be a target. Herability to control opponents models is really good against Etroopers who focus other troopers, and as a result she draws alot of heat from my opponent because of it, which means people over extend to get her.

I have though of chucking in Obi-wan, the main reason I haven't yet is I really like having 4 spies on the board (Davith, murne and 2x sabs), and adding in Obi makes my command deck potentially tighter on points.

a good player will deny you any hidden with murne... I have seen it done everytime I play her...and i would do the same...as you are a spy list your opponent will obviously factor in that you will cancel some stuff..so why bother playing? and if you cancel you still will not have more cards than him...

That sounds like good things to me? if my opponent doesn't play cards under fear that I will either hide people, or cancel those cards then I win? That's kinda how nuclear weapons work

Also, you have strategic shift in there, if he tries to hoard his cards. Murne is really powerful, people just haven't really seen it yet :)

Yeah, I tried Murne out in a list that I wasn't very good with, so my impression of her may not be justified. I want her to be good so badly. She obviously does best against trooper lists, and I haven't squared off against those as often with her.

but if you get close enough to use her ability, then you are close enough to die, even if Hidden, her ability is really only worth it if the guy you get to shoot is focused, then it doubles up on efficiency. If you're not using the 4pts, then its not doing you very much good. Unless you have a way to not use your cards, then the other ability doesn't come into play. I'd rather use my cards and kill your figures, and let you keep hiding stuff from me as I win. :D

as I said, if your shooting Murne, then that's ok with me generally. If I'm playing her right, she will be hidden, which means distance range 5 shot for you to make if I stay at the murne range, what I actually do is walk her forward, then backwards, and try to use her as threat against troopers from swarming me

Yeah, it's not that she's bad or useless. She's actually a pretty inventive piece!

But for those 4pts I'd rather have an Elite Smuggler (objective-grabbing and self-Focusing FTW!) than Murne. Or even 2 basic Alliance Smugglers, who could hold terminals and provide activations, if nothing else.

I tired a similar list but swapping Murne, C3PO and Diplomatic mission for Obiwan.

It actually worked really well. Dunno if I want 2xTc or C3PO but I think I prefer the rerolls.
