So..... Heroes of the Resistance! ARC-170!
Now featuring...Stuff!
I was wondering if I could see any new options for the old-and-busted T-65 X-wing, and a couple of things jumped out. How you'd stich them into a full X-wing squad (if you were so inclined to such madness) is up to you, of course.
- R3 Astromech. Not great. Theoretically it makes an X-wing slightly tougher, at the expense of cutting its firepower a bit. Therefore best on high priority targets, who shoot early, when you don't care if they hit or not. Veteran Instincts Wes Janson might be a possibility.
- M9-G8. Really, really good. Anyone with a spare action to target lock can use this little guy well, and becomes a nice support ship. However, he's better when you can either get multiple target locks (like the ARC can) or pick up target locks for free. Tarn Mison is an obvious choice.
- Snap Shot. Hmm... well, an unmodified 2-dice attack will do very little (unless you've got G8 fettling your dice, I guess). If you can pair it with R3-A2, though, it becomes a bit nicer. And funnily enough, the cheapest ship which can equip both Snap Shot and R3-A2 is a T-65 X-wing; Jek Porkins. Who also gets a special rule allowing him to mitigate stress tokens (at a risk!), which is also an attractive trait in a stressbot caddy.
- Seismic Torpedoes. Probably not worth taking en masse, but not a bad use for a spare torpedo slot. The ideal number is probably a couple - that way, anyone coming at you between two rocks can be Bwaaaaaam-ed from both sides simultaneously - enough to seriously threaten light fighters, even with palpatine's dice ju-ju in the background.
Random Squad Idea:
- Jek Porkins - Snap Shot, R3-A2, Integrated Astromech
- Lieutenant Blount - Adaptability, XX-23 Thread Tracers
- Biggs Darklighter - R4-D6, Integrated Astromech
- Tarn Mison - M9-G8
