Archaeologist as a career

By CornyTDog2000, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I have choosen archaeologist and force sensitive. I would like to know the best way to use my person to its fullest in combat and in helping my team inbetween. My GM is trying to add things that could me use but we both would like to hear better ways on how to contribute to combat. If you need my stats to help give the best answer I will try to add into the chat in hopefully a day. In the mean time please give me your help.

They get a good sort of hand to hand Talent with Pin, although it uses Athletics instead of a combat skill, coupled with Hard Headed, Durable, Enduring, Resolves, it really lends itself to a brawler kind of character. Well Rounded would let you make that a career skill if you so choose. Force use depending on what power you pick would let you buff your various options as well.

Thankfully, FFG's Archaeologist is more Indiana Jones than Marcus Brody, so you have a ton of options as to how to handle yourself in a scrap.

2P51 has pointed out the explicitly combat-related talents, but there are other ways your character could conceivably make use of their Knowledge skills in a fight. If you're in an abandoned temple, for example, you could use Knowledge Specialization and Researcher to find secret passageways, set off traps to your advantage (yeah, that Triumph definitely means you find a false floor tile to push somebody onto), and otherwise know the terrain of any ancient structure better than anybody else. This can make you an invaluable scout BEFORE combat -- whether that means setting up ambushes, or avoiding trouble in the first place.

As your character develops, consider purchasing the Scout or the Big Game Hunter specializations for further combat utility. The Scout's Quick Strike ability is basically this:
