How does the TIE Striker's Adaptive Ailerons title interact with Twin Ion Engine Mk II?

By Phelan Boots, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The question is in the title. My understanding is that TIE MkII would change the white banks of the title green. The only relevant passages I could reference were on page 10 of the rules reference under "Difficulty."

• If two game effects conflict in changing the dif culty of a maneuver, the effect that makes the maneuver more dif cult takes priority. The other effect is ignored.

However, in this circumstance, it appears that the Title is saying, "do a white bank or straight 1". Then the Mod says, "you can consider those banks to be green." Only one card is "changing" the difficulty of the manuever, so they aren't in conflict.

If this is, in fact, the case, you could potentially perform two green maneuvers in one turn, and thus remove two stress tokens in a turn. New Rage candidate, anyone?

If you have reason to believe I am misinterpreting this interaction, please let me know.

It makes those manoeuvres green but in practice that doesn't matter because they only work if you're not already stressed. The only current case where it matters is with Loose Stabilise which makes your white moves give a stress.

****, you're right. I was so focused on the interaction I skipped over the "not stressed" qualifier. Thanks.

And I would think by looking at the R2 Astromech that turns even the white 1-forward Ion move into a green, that the MKII Engine would turn the Adaptive 1-bank maneuvers to green too.

It definitely would.

It'd make a pretty sick combo with Systems Officer if the TIE Striker had a crew slot!

I imagine the stress requirement is preventing this directly lol.

I thought of this too but then noticed the stress deny. I dont think imperials have any way of getting an "action" while stressed, which wouldnt apply here anyway since it isnt an action.

Green 1-bank + Red maneuver on the dial should work. Get one, remove one. No Stress. Actions afterwards. Though I would assume that they simply gave the striker no reds and only very few greens.

What? How do you see that working?

This is the sequence I'm seeing...

  1. Execute a green maneuver (from Adaptive Ailerons + TIE mkII), remove a stress token if you have one
  2. Execute a red maneuver (from dial), receive a stress token
  3. Have stress
  4. No actions

Fixed that for you ;)
