One, for gimmicky fun.
And when it gets shelved and never played again I won't feel to bad.
2 tie punishers I bought, two! Why?
They were obviously crap:(
TIE Mk2 is good? Extra Munitions is good?

Sensor Cluster on Poe with AT pretty much guarantees 2 evades, so I'll get the SF for that.
Poe Dameron (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
R2-D2 (4)
Sensor Cluster (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)
Total: 41
View in Yet Another Squad Builder
Pretty pricey, but with R2-D2 and Black One on him, he'll be quite a tank to chew through (unless you play trip scouts and alpha him on the first round of combat lmfao).
i dont really see a reason to buy more than 2.
I preordered 3 and kinda wishing i didnt get the third. I was expecting some triple SF build but everything i come up with is either missing something important or way under 100pts but not enough for an academy filler or over 100pts.
Backdraft will appear a lot, quickdraw is more of a gimick than a legit ship, and the generics aint bad. Unfortunately the cheapest generic is 26pts with Accuracy Corrector ... sadface lol
I'm an Imperial honk, but I'm not real hot on this whole wave....I might buy one (maybe), for this overpriced ship (perhaps):

But the crazy price scares me and I feel FFG wants this to die on the vine like the poor Punisher (save an overpriced, barely used pilot). Maybe they want to give us a usable, but overpriced ship so those who think the T-65's are overpriced can have company in their incessant whining? ...I'm not in that camp; love my T-65s.
I have two TIE/sf's. I'm really glad I have two. Here's my favorite squad with a single TIE/sf
Omega Leader (Juke, Comm Relay)
Omega Ace (Push the Limit, Comm Relay)
Omega Sq. Pilot (Crackshot)
Backdraft (Fire-control System, Special Ops Training, Veteran Instincts -OR- Crackshot)
Omega Leader is obviously good, but all together these are some pretty tough nuts to crack. Backdraft is the weakest defensively, so I fly him on the flank. When Heroes of the Resistance comes out, I may drop VI/Crackshot for Primed Thrusters + Adaptability. If you have a TIE/sf, give this one a shot.
Here's a squad using two TIE/sf's.
2x Zeta Specialist (Fire-control System, Special Ops Training, XX-23 S-Thread Tracers, Guidance Chips Primed Thrusters)
3x Zeta Sq. Pilot
I may consider dropping the Thread Tracers for Twin Ion Engine Mk. II because the TIE/sf's really like the extra greens, but I like the idea of having a way of handing out target locks to the Zetas while still taking a focus action, and FCS + Chips gives a pretty good chance of connecting. ...Heh, nevermind! When Heroes of the Resistance comes out, Primed Thrusters is where it's at for these guys.
EDIT: This squad doesn't look all that powerful, but the extra shield behind 3 agility on the TIE/fo's is formidable, and the 3 attack dice provided by the TIE/sf's provides some much needed firepower. I haven't flown this yet, but I definitely will.
If you are one of those lucky enough to have 3 TIE/sf's, you are going to have SO much fun playing Epic First Order squads when Kylo Ren's shuttle comes out. SOOOOO HYPED!!!!!!
Edited by ParakitorI'm gonna get 4 and become the Biophysical of S/F Tie Fighters.
At least two. They are the Imperial version of a T-70, basically. Decent possibilities with them and Quickdraw is actually kinda sick.
Everyone is freaking out about being able to use SnapShot to get a shot after an Ace moves but before they token up, while Quickdraw can line the shot up before the opponent gets a chance to even move, let alone token (see x7's). Sure, you sac a shield to do so, but totally worth it.

doesn't QD move last at PS9 usually?
Another ship shaped like an H? I'll get 0, and wait for an Assault Gunboat. Because it's cool and isn't shaped like an H.
So even in a posts specifically about TIE S/F we still get a post about the Gunboat. Maybe we should see how much it costs to have it never released.
I just don't get why FFG insists on releasing more TIE Fighter variants, when there's a bunch of other cool TIE and non-TIE ships. How many H-shaped variants and paint jobs do we need? ![]()

Depends on the Ace your fighting. Most stuff, yeah (and yeah, X7's mostly wont be that fast without VI, Maarek, Rexler, maybe), but if common Aces like Soontir, Whisper, etc. Depends on Initiative or if they decided to VI.
Will say its not quite as flexable as Snapshot on a low PS boat.
Edited by kris40kI'm gonna get 4 and become the Biophysical of S/F Tie Fighters.
As a new player on a tight gaming budget who normally flies Rebels who badly wants HotR and also can't wait to get into Scum I'm likely to only get ..............4!
Zeta Spec, WG x2
Zeta Spec, Sen. Clus. x2
This is a squad I've been experimenting with. I'm sure it isn't competitive worthy but it fits my abilities right now.
Flies like X-wings
4 ship list
More durable than some Imperials. (my rough math says 1AGI = 2HP.)
Less susceptible to crits
Aux. arc.
minimal upgrades
Primed thrusters are looking good and I'm considering mk2 also so final upgrades are still in flux. For now I'm trying to decide between WG and Sens Clus.
Edited by EyegorI've been trying out backdraft as that 30is point cheap aces in my triple aces squad:
TIE/SF Fighter: •"Backdraft" (30)
Special Ops Training (0)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire Control System (2)
TIE Defender: •Colonel Vessery (37)
TIE/D (0)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tractor Beam (1)
TIE Adv. Prototype: •The Inquisitor (31)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
Push The Limit (3)
I like how backdraft is actually the cheapest way to get an effective, high ps 3 dice damage dealer for 30 points (excluding inquisitor who I already have)
4 sf should be 3 collision detector zetas and a VI FCS backdraft with tiemk2
4 sf should be 3 collision detector zetas and a VI FCS backdraft with tiemk2
Pretty sure that would be great when I get my hands on VI, FCS, and mk2. No excuse but I prefer not to proxy.
I'm gonna get 4 and become the Biophysical of S/F Tie Fighters.
But you don't have me designing the list for you so that's only gonna get you half way.

Edited by RampancyTWFour. Because I play Epic where even the Scyk is fun.

For me at least I like the TIE S/F. Being in the movie and all makes it better. Probably for most the Z-95 is different but I look at the X-Wing and Z-95 and see a bunch of similar ships. I still love them. The Z-95 became the T-65 X-Wing then that grew into the T-70. We have TIE L/ns, TIE F/O and now TIE S/F which seems like a natural progression. I'm not debating the effecienices of the ships just the progression. The Empire stuck with the TIEs got a TIE bomber to the rebellion Y-Wing; TIE Interceptor to the rebel's A-Wing; etc.
I do understand though, that there are mostly likely plenty of non-TIE design ships out there. But marketing wise ships in the movies will probably come first and the TIE design is, in and of itself, very iconic to the Empire. From the first escape from the Death Star to Vader chasing Luke.
So maybe there's plenty of room for more and since Fantasy Flight most likely has no plans of slowing down or shifting gears there's still more to come. LFL permitting though.
Edited by Ken at SunriseIm getting one for Backdraft. Dude is awesome, and new tech from HotR is gonna be great!
Backdraft + SoT + FCS + Primed Thrusters + Title
Uh, yeah, he can choose where to stick his rear end after all those below him have moved, then b-roll to adjust his arc.
However, this is the current squad I'm first excited to try:
Countess Ryad (35)
TIE Defender (34), Juke (2), TIE/x7 (-2), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
“Backdraft” (33)
Special Forces TIE (27), Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control Systems (2), Sensor Cluster (2), Special Ops Training (0) Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Carnor Jax (32)
TIE Interceptor (26), Push the Limit (3), Royal Guard TIE (0), Autothrusters (2), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Backdraft is PS9, can use his focus for defense with Sensor clusters guaranteeing 1 evade and FCS is giving him his Offense mods. Carnor will help him punch through defenses. PS9 lets backdraft barrell roll to get his enemies in arcs.
With the new tech, the low PS tie s/f's have a few tricks.
Omega Specialist + Collision Detector + Primed Thrusters + Title + Wired = 27pts
The ship can land on/through debris, then b-roll. This is a move your opponent will have a hard time planning for. Great for blocking. Or can do a 1 hard or a sloop, and b-roll, getting dice mods for offense and defense with wired. Turns all those reds on their dial to positives.
But really, this ship is all about:

EDITED: Goofed on accuracy corrector, changed to FCS
Edited by wurmsUh, yeah, he can choose where to stick his rear end after all those below him have moved, then b-roll to adjust his arc. Accuracy corrector guarantees at least two hits + 1 crit.
I don't think so... am I missing something? I think you cap at 2 Hits.
Honestly, struggling to care about anything with this wave, Heroes of the Resistance, Wave X, or beyond. I am buying a token 1 of each of the ships from this wave and honestly could not care less about any of them.
The ship at least gives a reason to use Twin Ion Engine. Other than a Defender.

DOH, I always forget about not being able to add dice results to accuracy corrector. Goes to show how much I actually use that card ![]()
I have played the sf on vassal 15 times now, with the exact same list. The list contains 3 sf's and continues to perform better than expected, even against jumpmasters and palp aces.
I do not think that the ships strengths is obvious, but more something that grows on you. It's not a top tier ship, but it's also no where near as bad as it reputation. My wallet voted 3.
