I'm trying to sort out my transport options for Armada and was curious if anyone knew the theoretical maximum number of command dials you'd need for a 400 point fleet?

400 points of GR-75's is 22 dials. I'd say that is about max.

21 - you need a commander too

12 seems like a good healthy amount to bring. Though I usually just bring my whole box full of stuff in case anyone needs anything.

You should be fine with 9 Speed & Command dials per faction.

Derp. Somehow the 5 and 0 keys were getting backwards in my typing. No real excuse for that. Still, 16 is the reasonable maximum.

Thanks, guys. I want to get a group of stuff together that never needs switched up but that isn't everything I have nor likely to come up short. I'm not a fan of the "tackle box" storage option and was thinking of maybe cutting my own foam trays. Been trying to sort out an "I always need this" list.

I cut my own foam. Cost me 19.99 for a large sem-rigid sheet (about 50% more flexible than battlefoam) and a 2 weeknights in labor and I have a 5 tray stacking foam carrier for my ships that fits them like a glove.

I cut trays into the for my ship cards, stands, and bases but now in hindsight I wish I had just put them in a small divided carrier for easier access. They look really sharp, but it is far less convenient to have to go through my ship setup to get parts than just reach into a case.

What you end up doing is your call, just figured I would offer my 2 cents on the matter.

I'm not enamored with any of the options from Battlefoam or Feldherr or KR either. They all have some of what I want but not really what I'm looking for and the stuff doesn't really mix-and-match.
