Maybe if there was a ship that could already get two shots off, one of them with an Ion Cannon...

But that would be crazy. Three shots a round?

(I love you Defenders)

But... the Snap Shot makes no difference in this case to the ability to use the ion cannon? If you get snap shot you also get to double tap, but snap shot doesn't inherently make the double tap any more or less likely - and in the case of most /Ds, the opportunity cost is bigger because you're losing the benefit of your EPT on two shots, not just one. Instead of Snap Shot you could have had a reroll on both shots with Predator...

You don't get to double tap after Snap Shot, because the card says you cannot attack again in the same phase.

You would get to double tap in the combat phase assuming the enemy hadn't used actions to clears your range 1 arc.

You wouldn't get to double tap after snap shot even if it didn't specifically say you couldn't, because /D only happens after a primary weapon attack, which it's not.

Still, three shots. Sounds fun.

No-one seems to have pointed the double tap potential (with Snap Shot) against a ship suffering a movement penalty from Ion...

... is that not a thing?

I think they made a grave mistake with the ruling about "the ship causing the mod is the 'you'".

It broke the hard and fast interpretation of who's 'you' established in the main ruleset.

The interaction between Snap Shot and M9-G8 should be clear as read (no mod), but the precedent from another convoluted interaction has introduced ambiguity.

As far as I know there is no ruling that "the ship causing the mod is 'you'". "You" is still always the ship that an effect is attached to (or that is performing a sequence from the rules).

/D is cannon first, primary second. Either way, Snapshot is not a cannon...

Of course not. But again, Defender can now get three shots. Very fun.

I never said otherwise?

As I said, Snap Shot doesn't interact with /D at all for two reasons, so I wasn't sure what the original poster of the point was getting at when they implied otherwise.

I am probably wrong here but I think part of what is being said in this line is that a defender with shap shot, /D and Ion cannon. Can get a total of three shots at a target, getting a ion token (potentially) every round so you always know where they are going to be next round to do it again.

hmmm could Nien actually make some use of Opportunist?

I know it's expensive and a bit situational, but his PS7 means other friendly's are going to go first (Wes, Wedge, Poe), hopefully strip off or use up enemies tokens, then Nien can let loose with 5 dice (add in R2-A3 for extra salt) and not care about the stress

Add in Jan for 6 dice. oooooo

Except you don't if they're a large ship, and you aren't guaranteed to get more than a single shot the following round if they can reposition after moving.

Assuming that you can catch them in range 1 after a 1 straight anyway without bumping them. Defenders don't have a good slow-roll dial and a 4k doesn't always work.

True about the ion token and a large ship, but with the /D title if you have one shot you do in fact have two, the cannon and your primary. I agree about the limited chances of the defender keeping a ship at range 1 and in ark that is only doing a 1 straight and even as I was typing what I thought the idea the original poster of the point was, I was thinking about how hard it would be to pull off round after round. Only way I can think of would be the Countess and her ability to change any straight into a K but even then it won't always work. Of course, if you move first then you can just bump their rear end then let them make the 1 straight and you would have them again but that would remove your ability to modify dice making it harder to hit anything.

You can do Keyan + Opportunist with Jan already for an attack that hits exactly as hard, and Keyan can do it wiithout stress at R1-3 and always has a least a Focus on the attack even if he gets blocked, hits an obstacle, or BRs for his action, plus has the opportunity to TL for his action or use FCS and still get the "focus" when attacking by spending his stress. Keyan is also the same price and same PS as Nien, and has comparable survivability. Keyan can't take the Stress-Droid, but he could take a Tactician+E2 mod.

It's a nice concept, but I think Keyan would already do it better, and he's certainly not anywhere near the meta-game right now.

The benefit of R3A2 is that you shut down the actions of the target by giving them stress (except Soontir's focus, and Tycho, oh and if you dont have initiative X7 Defenders get their evade token).

Never mind just saw that you were talking about Opportunist, not Snap Shot....sorry!

Except Tactician doesnt work on Keyan's Snap Shot Attack, since it isnt range 2.

That's okay, we all make mistakes or misread things form time to time! :)

x7 defenders get their evade anyway since that title is an assignment not a free action. The initiative for them is whether or not they have the evade FOR the snapshot, not whether they have it at all.

We still don't know how the Hot(shot) Co-(pilot), or Trick(something) works, right?

Especially curious about the latter, the layout suggests it's an EPT!

hot copilot would be crew :P

but it's probably not hot copilot :(

My gut says no missile would be labled Trick anything. Smart yes, MIRV yes, not Trick. Falcon is an absolutely terrible missile platform and xwings are usually a bad torp platform so im not expecting a new ordnance anyway.

I still say its Trick Shot, which is a 3-4pt EPT that lets you allocate one uncancelled Hit or Crit to another ship at range 1 when attacking (ala Draw Their Fire, only offensively)

edit: hot copilot better be a redhead...just saying

Is that me or targeting astro is now cool, when used with primed thrusters? PtL like effect on trolls and kturns, available even to the ps2 rookies.
