Vassal: What are the correct models to download for ships

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

Question: I have vassal 5.7.0 and want to upgrade to the newest version, but when I download the ships from the new version I don't get them all. Just a few.

How do I get all the ships updated to the newest version of the software? What files should I download. Also, some of the other files have the same names under different versions, should I download them too?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

You download the x-wing module, and it gets everything. There aren't separate ship packs any more.

The newest version is 6.1.0 at the time of writing this post. 6.2.0 will hopefully release today.

The main module is the only file that's mandatory to have, all others are optional as they are a matter of convenience. The main module gives you access to all ship all the way up to wave 9 fully included. You spawn ships and dials at your convenience as you build your squads from scratch.

What I think you're referring to are the optional log files which consolidate the ships, dials and pilots and spawns them all at once on a per ship basis. You load these and delete the unwanted stuff instead of constructing from zero. This is always done by extra contributors who may or may not have the time in their lives to do it fast, every update. They always make a point of adding these time saving logs under the same download area as the main module.

Last, there's one map pack that's completely optional if you want prettier backdrops, but that implies your opponent has it installed as well or you run the risk of playing a corrupted window.

I still haven't gotten around to figuring this thing out. Because I'm so smart, I looked and saw a bunch of youtube tutorials. Do you guys recommend any of them?

Just saves time as I found a lot don't use it.

I like using the standard black map. Makes it harder to judge distance etc
