I mostly clean my small brushes with my mouth

So what is the best tasting brand of paint then?

Haha, I'm sure you don't really want to know, but for fun, of the brands I use I would order them thus; GW, Coat d'Arms, Privateer, Reaper.

The foundation paints, base layers, technicals, and washes taste worse. Inks taste disgusting. Metallics scare me because of the tiny flecks of metal.

Anyway, as it's your thread that's been derailed I would like to say that I like your repaints. The fighters are really clean and 'pop' well whilst the capitals have that slightly worn Star Wars aesthetic.

Thanks mate!

Yeah, I was joking about the paint. Do you have a thread anywhere with your repaints? I like looking at other people's stuff.

I have 100s of brushes, from cheapo ($0.05 to decent $10) and I find that I use the same brush, my GoldenBoy, about 95% of the time, except for coverage stuff like primer and seal. Love me my GoldenBoy! When GoldenBoy dies, I buy another if I know what it was, otherwise I cry and buy brushes until the next iteration of GoldenBoy is found.

My subtle Pelta...

Subtle is good.

I always prefer outlandish, but I can appreciate a good subtle.

The space on the top front panels is crying out for an emblem though...

Might practice my rebel logo skills!

Have you tackled a Pelta yet Dras? What approach are you going for?

"Outlandish"

Lighting is terrible and yellow... But its basically ivory/offwhite with Blighted Gold Accents and the Rose-and-Thorns motif.

Very nice mate! I have seen it actually in your thread, but never noticed the Gold before.

This little guy arrived yesterday, so I am a bit sleep deprived at the moment...

Hehe, don't expect to be without Sleep Deprivation for a While now :D

4 years, going strong, here :D

A better pic of the Pelta, showing the Leadbelcher sections...

Also, a few nice dirty Z-95's and some Decimators...

Oh, and my new painting assistant...

20170110_230910_zpsysqnuva3.jpg

Urgh.

The Z-95s are SO MUCH NICER than the X-Wings, let alone the Starter Pack X-Wings...

If I had the money, I'd buy up Imp-IIs just to cut and carve and make X-Wings out of those Z-95s....

ANd the paint is smooth and well applied, looking the goods still, Dedmanz.

That Pelta is gorgeous, and yes Z95s are awesome looking (good work). Wish I had the subtlety for that kind of painting, I don't though :D

Thanks guys!

Yes, the new fighters are very well cast compared to the previous ones, and I have liked the Z-95 design for a while. I always imagined them to be old and battered, so tried to reflect that.

The Pelta was a rush job in between hospital visits. Came out better than I thought!

Both you guys have some great stuff in your threads too, and I enjoy looking at other people's different styles, as still haven't perfected mine yet! Have a couple of posh brushes on the way though that may help.

Okay, good job............. a future gamer. Get a big set of fuzzy dice for his crib to get him started early:)So congratulations, I have twins boy and girl both 9 years old.

Your new ships are looking beautiful! The Z-95s in particular. Can't wait to have a go at some. I wish I had the money for spares to put with my Kath Scarlett!

Congrats on your new arrival too! My little girl has just got to 10 months old and I've only just about got to painting again but in a very small 1-2hr window on an evening. Then everything has to be completely packed away before she wakes up in the morning. A very thorough process of counting in and out all the individual fighters and pegs goes on because if she finds them on the floor she WILL eat them. Nightmares! So speed painting is my new preference. Got an Imp 2 box done in 2 hours! (In response to your earlier question I'll open up a thread when I find the time to take pictures!)

Nice, that Pelta looks bad@$$ :D

Thanks mate. I can see my free time dwindling away as we speak...

For the first few months you will be busy, but try to get some time with your wife and by yourselves, you must make a little time otherwise you will burn out quickly, learned that early on when my two were born. We had to regiment everything. Keep an hour each day for you, and a couple for your wife. Your sanity will be better for it.

E-Wings done. Got bored of red squadron, green squadron etc paint schemes, and went metallic! Not sure whether it worked...

That rounds up my rebels...

Metallics are always the answer, I might have a problem though.

Nose art...

And shiny cockpits. The learning curve continues...
