Wayward Stars - Group A

By waywardgm, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

"They have a krasting battle droid? A BATTLE DROID? I thought the Empire outlawed those things?" Ramani shouts at his allies, sounding rather nervous. This was madness, the Stormtroopers at least have the common decency to die when you shoot them in the right spots, who knows how tough a battle droid is? "Let's get into the ship quickly and get out of here before more droids get here."

Only incidental talking for now.

Nevermind, found it.

When the doors open, Eya thinks herself ready to shoot—and then she sees the lightsaber. She knows full well what it is, what it means.
A Jedi. Here. Now.
I'm not ready, is her first thought, but it's nonsense; she was trained to hunt them, yes, but she's free now of that directive. There is a Jedi standing there, beyond those doors, but he is not her enemy. There's a strange edge to that thought. Yearning. Need.
And she wonders, Could he help me?
Then he drops, and for a moment it feels like her heart has stopped. Eya is running before she realizes she's running, breaking away from the others with no word of warning. Her assessment of the situation is near-automatic: Stormtroopers, near the doors; a battle droid, inexplicable but fighting the Imperials; the Jedi, on the ground now; that woman from before, apparently leading the Imperials...
Eya's training taught her to cut the enemy off at their head, and she is still barely thinking as she raises her gun and fires. She puts three precise shots into the woman's left leg, then reloads just as automatically as she fired.
Eya's turn:
Maneuver: Move to short range of the agent there.
Action: Fire!
Shoot the agent!: 2eA+2eP+1eD+1eC+2eF 3 successes, 2 advantage, 1 Light Side, 1 Dark Side

With Superior, three advantage... use one pip, flip destiny, use the other pip, five advantage, crit.
Crit!: 1d100+10 33
11 damage, and our friend there is staggered until the end of her next turn.

Agent Tylee Cardas:

Reeling from the shock of the Jedi, the sight of the downed Stormtroopers and the sudden attacks of the group inside the Docking Bay, Tylee's composure breaks and she steps back. The hulking droid turns its guns on her troopers, and a spray of blaster fire brings another one down. Then there is a sudden pain, a horrible pain. Three brilliantly aimed slugs burn into her left leg, causing her to stumble and fall. Who uses a slugthrower in this day and age? She wonders as her vision flickers. The blood flowing from her leg is a distant concern, but she knows it is important. Holding the wounds, only barely aware there are three of them and she has but two hands, Cardas whimpers a small moue of fear. Where are those reinforcements..?

Nice shooting Eya! The ISB Agent is out for a round and badly wounded.

Solan:

"Right, if that's not a blasted sign to get the kriff out of here I don't know what is!" the Corellian exclaims as he grabs Chak by the scruff of his coat and hauls him bodily into the ship. "Grrowv, be a dear and push that trolley of guns inside please. If our dear Devaronian friend did his job in disabling that device, they won't be able to track us if we get a move on!" Using his free hand to snap a couple of quick shots off, forcing one of the more bold Stormtroopers back into cover, Solan half throws, half pushes T'Vont onto the freighter and into relative safety. Standing in the doorway, the smuggler keeps his compatriot covered with blaster fire as she snags the hover trolley and shoves it towards the ship at speed.

Two PC turns - we have Ramani and Crow to act. Then the remaining Stormtroopers.

The presence of a battle droid on the other side would not be allowed to upset Ramani’s plan. For some inexplicable reason the two idiots he’s been guiding through this rather unsuccessful arms deal decide that it’s worth risking their lives for a crate of blaster rifles, and the scarred kid decides to run out in the open to gun down the Imperial agent. Well, they had better be quick because Ramani Fenn will not let them slow him down on his miraculous escape from this almost successful business transaction.

With Chack in Solan’s care, Ramani snaps off a couple of shots in the general direction of the Stormtroopers. He is pleasantly surprised when his effort is rewarded and two of the troopers, both presently turning their back to him and facing their battle droid, for some reason, are hit solidly in the back by the narrow, focused beam of the Nova Viper and drop like a sack of Balo mushrooms.

“Let’s go people,” Ramani says. Not inclined to wait any longer for his business associates he runs from the doorway of the ship, where he had taken some cover, deeper into the vessel. He knows the general layout of a ship of this type, and is not fooled by the fact that the cockpit is, for some reason that escapes his brilliant mind, located to the side of the vessel. He heads straight there, pistol held by his side, hoping he can get the ship up and running. He’s no pilot, but he’ll take his chances and blast off this rock if his friends all get killed trying by Stormtroppers or their battle droid to get a crate of blasters onto the ship.

As he runs through the ship he thinks for a moment about the troopers he shot. Not out of any remorse, but because how conveniently they turned their backs to him. Why would they be looking at their battle droid when there were armed people inside? It makes no sense. Unless the battle droid was not with them. That would be an interesting twist. But if he wasn’t with the Empire, what insanity brought it here, now? Was there a third party trying to cut in on the deal? Third party? Bah, make that a fifth party, given all the confusion out there. Chack and his guys, Ramani and the three idiots, the clone weirdo was betraying Chack, the Imperials and now a battle droid.

This would be confusing for a normal being. Fortunately, Ramani Fenn has a mind for complicated business arrangements. He would make this work to his advantage. He always did. The trick is to wait for one side to nearly come out on top and then throw his lot in with them, tipping the balance. He could almost feel his brain working hard to formulate a new plan. This would be a good one!

Ramani will snap off unaimed shots at the storm troopers by the door, at medium range, not quite willing to draw the ire of the battle droid or the agent. Besides, it’s easier to stomach shooting masked troopers than that pretty gal he ran into earlier. And she’s down anyway, right? Right?

Shooting stormtroopers, 2 boosts for Accurate 2: 2eA+1eP+2eB+2eD 4 successes, 4 advantage
a-a-a.pnga-s-a.pngp-s-s.pngb-s-a.pngb-a-a.pngd-th.pngd-th.png

Whaaaaaat? Is this really happening? I don’t belief it! This is a hit, the first one with this massive bling-bling blaster pistol Ramani is so proud off. The damage is 11, Pierce 2. I’ll use 3 advantages to activate a critical. The last remaining advantage will be used to recover 1 strain.

I’ll assume that since they are minions the critical hit will drop one and the damage will be enough to drop another. If the wound status of the troopers makes the damage enough to drop two I’ll edit.

Ramani then uses his maneuver to run deeper into the ship, looking for the cockpit. Since it has been established that he knows something about a ship of this type I’ll assume he knows where it’s located.

Yay you hit things! I am working on my post, and will probs have it up tomorrow at some point.

I'm looking at my post up there and I have no clue what happened with my font, but I'll try and keep it from happening again.

Execute...

The barrel of the DC-15A rises slowly...
No! Not again. Never again!

Order...

Its target changing from the cowed Devaronian...
Why?! It's over! The war has been over for years!

Sixty-Six...

To aim instead at the Kel-Dor, his glowing green blade so very reminiscent of one Crow had seen once, a long, long time ago. Not again, CR-0216! Don't you dare pull that trigger. This is ingrained Clone conditioning, you're not in the Republic Army any more. There is no Republic any more.

Blaster bolts flash around the area as Crow battles within himself, the gun trained on the Jedi and tracking every movement he makes. Distantly he is aware of the B2 series Battle Droid, also engaged in combat with the Stormtroopers flooding into the docking bay. Ramani is yelling about the Droid, but Crow is moving automatically, getting ready to do his duty for his commander, to preserve order against the traitors who tried to overthrow the government.

Fight it, you old bastard. You didn't want to do it then, and you don't want to do it now. FIGHT IT! But his body acts, his finger squeezes the trigger, even as his mind bellows not to.

Discipline check to resist the mental conditioning: 3eA+1eC+1eD 0 successes, 1 threat
a--.pnga-s-s.pnga--.pngc-f-th.pngd-f.png

Flipping that Destiny point you offered to NOT be the one to take Torin down - thank you Wayward!

The blue bolt of light streaks towards the melee, directly towards the Kel-Dor, who is slashing through the white armored troopers with ease and grace. Behind his helmet, Crow is screaming at himself in rage and frustration. Then the Jedi falls. His body slumping to the ground, no longer moving. CR-0216 jolts out of his reverie, realizing that it was not his round that brought the Kel-Dor down, but the stun setting of the E-11 rifles carried by the invading Stormtroopers. His own shot passed within an inch of the man's head, only missing because he had already started to fall.

A rush of emotion surges through the Clone as he snaps back to the reality of the moment. He hadn't killed another one. It was by some higher power, maybe The Force that the Jedi always went on about, that he had missed; but he had missed. Then the second unbelievable thing happens, and the B2 Droid starts rampaging through the Imperials, doing its best to protect the fallen Jedi. And then Eya rushes off, firing her rifle into the officer who is leading from the rear.

Darn it CR, you sight your blasted gun on one of those white armored pretenders and you fire a bolt right between the stupid eye-slits of those ridiculous helmets! Is the thought that smashes through the fog of his mind. If you want to balance the books, you need to save that Jedi RIGHT NOW!

And with the slightest of twitches, Crow aims his rifle past the B2, even as every instinct tells him to put as many rounds into the thing as he can before it gets closer, and fires a burst of shots into the Imperial Stormtroopers.

Well, that burst of resolve and whatnot... Looks like luck is with us now, eh Kymrel? EDIT - 1 Success, 1 Triumph total.

I'll use a Triumph to upgrade someone's next check, as I am pretty sure Ramani and Crow have taken care of the remaining 3 Stormies between us pretty handily.

And his aim had never been more true. The shots riddle the remaining troopers, who fall to the ground with yells of pain and surprise. Crow is already moving, racing across the bay again to cover Eya and make sure no more Imperials remain in the corridor to the port. He sees the injured female officer, her leg bleeding profusely from the slugthrower wounds, crawling away from the fight. A coward in all senses of the word, Crow scoffs. Taking up overwatch position, the Clone keeps his rifle ready, watching for any sign of hostile movement. Ramani calls out from behind him, something about leaving in a hurry.

"I'm not leaving Eya here, Balosar! Get the bloody ship ready to go and I can promise we'll be on board the second she's back!"

When can we spend XP? Do we need some down time? Can Torin still use the Mentor to buy the Move basic power?

Quote

I think that is everyone - and yes the good news is the Stormtroopers are all gone, which I will type up below.

Jedi Ronin - ideally I'd want the learning of new skills to be during the narrative, but as this one is something you'd most definitely have learned during your early days as Padawan, you may spend that experience now, and indeed you can take the Mentor discount.

Stormtrooper Group Delta

The Emperor's finest find that the short sprint from the large docking bay doors to the assorted crates, boxes and pillars among which they plan to take cover is a lot longer of a distance than anticipated; when under a hail of blaster and slugthrower fire from multiple enemy combatants. Driving forward, each of the remaining three men struggles to avoid the oncoming rounds. One by one they fall, to shots from the Balosar and the Clone Trooper, collapsing into the dust and grime of a bay now filled with bodies and destruction. The last man can just barely make out the sound of his comm, tuned to the planet-wide Imperial military channel, letting them know that AT-STs and more Stormtroopers have been dispatched to the port. He slips into the darkness with a small smile on his face, knowing he will see his family again soon, and that the criminal scum would be brought to justice - one way or another.

Quote

The combat is effectively over - great work everyone! You have a wounded ISB Agent and a wounded Kel-dor Jedi. What would you like to do next?

Quote

Thanks!

I'd like to roll to recover Strain so Torin can be conscious.

Then we can arrange transport ?

Quote

Alright - so I tend to do a thing where if someone is unconscious after combat (from strain or wounds) they need a second party to help them come to. It's as simple as an interaction, be it a "Hey, wake up you lazy sod!" or a "Quick, drink this medicine, it will help!"

So as soon as someone as brought Torin round, you can do the 'Roll Cool to recover Strain' option.

I find this gives a bit more narrative flavor to things than someone simply coming awake suddenly - though of course that can happen as well. Cool?

So, after playing Eya for a little bit, I think it would really better suit to retcon her as starting at Morality 29. Does anyone object? I'll refund the XP back to the metaphorical bank, don't worry.

(I already checked this with waywardgm in DM, but I figured I should also talk to y'all.)

Quote

Sounds good - I'll wait for someone to snap Torin out of it

Do we have any XP to spend, Jedi Ronin? Did I miss something?

Since Ramani has already gone into the ship, heading for the cockpit, I'll leave the waking of the Jedi to someone of better moral caliber. Which might not be Eya then, if you end up with 29 morality :P

I'll roll the Cool check to recover strain, but I don't really have anything more to do IC until I find out what Ramani sees inside the ship.

Cool check to recover strain: 3eA+1eP 3 successes, 1 advantage

Cool! Ramani had 3 strain and recovers all of it.

Yeah we got like 10 for Christmas and 5 for 200 posts, or vice versa. Check back a few pages in the thread and you'll see Wayward mentioned it. I don't know what to spend mine on yet.

Ah, I had forgotten. Good to know :)

One by one, Embeetoo gazed at the deadweight crashing before him, bright bolts searing into the Stormtroopers’ riddled bodies as the coward drooped down to cover her open wounds. Slugs? Intriguing. That at least leaves him the pleasure of dotting the officer right under that bland little hat. Embeetoo immediately swished his blaster towards her head ready to invite the agent to eternity; morbid pleasure once again taking his systems in impending bliss!

:Hostility Neutralized: …no…

:Medical Protocol Initiated: NOOO!!!

Horrid shrieking and crunching emitted from the droid as his arm forcefully contorted away from her waiting cranium. His systems ablaze with anger, Embeetoo could do nothing as his own chassis denied him. Popping and hissing, scrapping and fuming the metal man stiffly but hastily began rushing to the Kel-Dor’s aid. His hand shook both in anger and in his own feeble attempts to lock on to his opportunity as he clawed his way through his back compartment and into his spare medical supplies.

In a rather jerking motion the droid shoved a miniscule capsule of some sort horribly close to the Padawan’s breath mask while tightly crushing it in his durasteel palm. Embeetoo cursed to himself in internal frustration as a small burst of smelling salts erupted, speckling the aliens face in the faint blue powder.

With his free hand the B2 ripped his patient right back onto his feet, awaiting the effects (he had never used smelling salts on one of his kind before you know) and hoping this one was worth his salt. All the while he kept his ‘eye’ clasped on the very ones he had been searching for (though he would have preferred to be stabbing his vibro-bayonet through a certain Imperial’s skull right about now instead) honestly a bit surprised no one was aiming at him.

All he could do was help keep his ‘Master” (oh how fast the word now soured in his nonexistent mouth) on his fleshy legs while the bitter medicine did its job, his sensor now glowing a serene blue instead of the intense irritated red he felt churning in his systems as he locked his blaster upright into safety mode. He stood stalwart and silent, only uttering one word as calmly as his self loathing would allow towards no being specifically- “Appreciated”.

Quote

Well, he doesn't really have that "moral caliber" you talked of, but he is the medic whether he likes it or not. ^_^

Edited by Weedles and Fries

Torin shook his head and almost stumbled again but Embetoo held him firm.
"Appreciated? It is I who am appreciative my....friend. I am in your debt. Which I'll repay by fulfilling my agreement with you and my duty as your Master."
Torin reached his hand out and through the Force pulled his lightsaber off of the ground and up to his hand.
"I'm steady now. Perhaps we should see to getting off this planet...."
Torin eyed the beings in the bay as he stepped forward out of the grasp of Embeetoo.
Was that a clone trooper? Torin tried to calm his fear and, if he was honest, anger. He held his lightsaber in long sleeves, ready to use if needed but hopefully not too threatening to alarm the trooper.
"The clone trooper may not react well to us. I wonder who he'll shoot first?" Torin said in a low rumble to Embeetoo.

2 advantage to recover somewhat non-chalantly?

Edited by Jedi Ronin

Friend? My how loosely this one must use the term. You smear a soldiers lifeblood across the pavement and shove some smelling salts in his face and all of the sudden he thinks him his chum? Dangerously rash for a Jedi…what was his angle?

“If he wanted to blast either of us I believe he would have already done so, Master Jedi”. Or, perhaps he already tried, Embeetoo couldn’t tell from the scarring on the docking bay floor. “So far these organics seem to be on the same page as us; I’m a bit disappointed to say this wasn’t all my handiwork”. Creaking a bit as his systems kept each other at bay the droid began continued coldly, “What I’m more concerned with is this louse clutching her leg over here” As he was saying this Embeetoo slightly nudged his arm towards the wounded agent, hoping he would be rational enough to take the most reasonable route.

“She can’t be left alive after all, she’ll give away your presence. I guarantee they have more capable minions than her to loose after us if they were to find out”. The heat was returning to him as the grinding resumed; his attempts to break the protocol currently in vain.

I changed the Morality on Eya's sheet.

I do want to note again for clarity that I mean this as a retcon, because I was thinking about how she's been responding and about some of my thoughts for what she'll do after combat ends (and, oh, it looks like it has!) and realized that it was really much more appropriate for her to have a low Morality.

More concisely: it's not that I think she should be acting differently, but that this fits better with how she's been acting. I made a mistake when setting up the character.

(Sorry if all this was over-explained; I'm under a bit of stress at the moment and tend to over-explain when stressed.)

"He may change his mind when we approach, be on the lookout. As for the Imperial Officer, I think your threat assessment software could use an update. Killing her will not help us but it will compromise me." Torin eyed the officer cooly as he made his way further into the bay...

So, what's up?

Just waiting to see what Ramani sees inside the ship. Can't really interact much until I know more what's going on in there.

I messaged Wayward but haven't heard back yet. He did say something about a busy week for work last week, so maybe still dealing with that. I can throw up a post to continue the fun in the mean time? Figure Crow should react to B2+Jedi Buddy Film action.
