Ordnance as Dual Cards

By Rikk1980, in X-Wing

How would people feel if all the current Ordnance became dual cards?

My idea being that the "discard this card" text is replaced with "flip this card"

The B-Side has something like - Action: Flip this card.

For most pilot and munition combos this would mean at least a full turn before you could fire them again, and no offensive or defensive mods on the turn you're rearing. That seems pretty well balanced.

Extra Munitions would then prevent you from flipping the first time so it would still have value.

Interesting.

I like this idea a lot. It facilitates a "reload" or "recharge" mechanism without adding a bunch of extra rules that don't already exist.

If this would have been put pre extra muntions and the other fixes then probably yes...at this point I'd have to say no.

It would be also really cool on cannons as well. Seeing as they are supplementary weapons it seems like a 'recharge' phase would be cool. Have to try it in HOTAC

My U-Boats say yes, please!

If we have IDKFA then we'd need to tune down the damage. Otherwise bringing 3 U-boats would be like IDDQD.

That's kind of how it was in Attack Wing. When you fired an ordnance weapon, you placed a "disable" token on the card, which could be removed for an action. I like how X-wing does it better.

I like the idea. And why couldn't it coexist with the current ordnance MOs. Like spacelions says, it could be lower damage weapons with the option of perpetual use.

The precedent has already been established with Ordnance Tubes. . .

While you could utilize dual upgrades as a way to make reloadable ordnance a good part of me just hopes they'd come out at make some ordnance that doesn't have that discard effect at all. Yes, effectively it makes the torpedo/missile slot work like a cannon but if it still requires TL on the target to use you still have a limiter on it.

When I think of ordnance as a dual upgrade I'm hoping to get something that has two distictive uses where one is best against a certain type of target and the other against another type of target. This is effectively the "sideboard" ordnance route which would let the builder choose the right load for his opponent at game time instead of needed to prepare in advance.
