I can remember the days where the Falcon was a thing and C3PO a must have. Then PWTs became a bit obsolete (at least Super-Han) and the use of C3PO decreased. Time of aces came and last year C3PO became a free card giving away for tournament participation (at least a distinct number).

I see a similar evolvement with Palpatine. With so many anti-ace weapons/tools we have and others which are coming in the next waves, I assume it will be a slight decrease in aces lists. At least I guess Palp-shuttle will see less play.

So maybe someday we see Palp as a give away card for tournament participation? Who knows

I think that's a valid hypothesis.

I think Palp is a little more effective overall, though. 3PO is inherently based on chance, and though you can choose the most likely outcome, it can still fail. Palp can't fail in the same way; you can only "waste it" by missing an opportunity. Plus, the only way you wouldn't rely on him is if you have perfect dice. So I think it'll retain its long-term presence a lot better than 3PO has, but you never know.

TIE Advanced title I think is a lot more likely.

I wouldn't mind seeing Integrated Astromech as a giveaway. So far, the only way to get multiple copies in the foreseeable future is an aces pack that includes a large base. And there are 5 other ways to get ships that can use the card, but only 1 comes with a copy (T-70). And everyone who plays X-Wing has at least 1 ship that can take Integrated Astromech.

I hope they don´t give it away for free. I bought the Raider just for that card (like a lot of people I guess) and the card itself holds considerable value since that´s the only way to acquire it. X-wing has in some ways become a CCG since so many of the expansions are only worth it for many people because of the cards included. The fact that they gave C3P0 away (having purchased the CR90 for that card and R2D2) is part of the reason I haven´t bought the Gozanti yet. I want Agent Kallus but I feel the cards don´t hold their value any more. I know a lot of people feel otherwise and I respect their opinion.

Kallus would be nice but I believe IG-88 Crew would be good to be given on the tournaments.

Maybe a pilot like Wes Janson or Wampa.

Well, there also is Wampa, who became a strong ship in Palpatine 4 ship lists in there, not to mention it is one of the best expansions for epic play with buffs for all the ships.

Have you ever considered buying cards on eBay? I used to dismiss that as a silly and expensive thing to do, but in the end it saves time and it's pretty easy. I used to buy blister packs of ships, take the cards I wanted and sell the ships on eBay at a reduced price (clearly stating what had been removed) if I didn't intend to use them. But after doing that I realised I was technically spending the same amount on cards as if I had just bought them on their own. As long as you don't make a habit of it, it's no harm.

Ya, I would think that the next store champ season will feature an Imperial crew. I could see an AA Palp or Vader crew although the art for both is pretty great.

If you're buying X-wing cards as an "investment" or because they will "hold value", IMO you're doing it wrong.

The cost of the Raider and a possibility of Palp becoming promo are the main reason I didn't buy the Raider yet. Also because epic is not really huge in my area.

They're missing out. Admittedly, I haven't used my own Raider yet, and I've had my Corvette for a year and just used it yesterday, in a three-hour, Epic 400 v, 400 game with a Corvette and Raider on each side. IT WAS AWESOME.

The game is the same, but at the same time dramatically different with the big ships on the board and with the higher point count. The strategy gets deeper, the potential interactions get interesting, generics increase in value, aces decrease in value, and oddball pilots who are almost useless in 100-point matches suddenly get interesting.

We decided we need to play more Epic. (For those interested, my B-wing alpha strike got pwnd by Jonus-supported Gamma Squadron Vet bombers, but the Ordnance Tube Corvette took down the fighter screen and did most of the heavy lifting crippling the Raider. A HWK was the MVP of the Rebel list.)

What a horrible attitude to have. I also bought Raider Expansion pack specifically to get Advanced Targeting Computer and Palpatine but I don't understand why someone shouldn't get one pf those cards for free. I am not losing anything, only other people gain something.

Probably after Palp gets phased out by the new swarm meta. When C-3PO became a tournament prize Fat Han was already yesterdays meta as TLTs shot everything out of the stars.

They wouldn't get whole expansion but only one card.

I think that if Palp gets phased out, he will be /less/ likely to show up as an alternate art card. I don't think that C-3PO was given away because Fat Han had faded from the meta, I think the decision was made well in advance and he just showed up late.

I bet Palp will be a tournament prize soon...

This would be at least at good strategic choice to bring more TIE advanced back to the tables (and they deserve it)
