Wild Gunman (a crackswarm variant)

By wurms, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Black Sq + Crackshot (x3)
GSV + Crackshot + HM + Tracers + EM + LRS
GSV + Crackshot + HM + EM + LRS

A five ship crackswarm, but two are bombers with homing missiles and crack for all those dang evade tokens out there. Tracers on one so blackcracks get rerolls.

Thinking about dropping one GSV for Deathfire w/ Conners and Homing/Proton, another way to deal with aces. Messed around on squadron benchmark game. Seems fun and effective.

Game 1 vs Brobots

Game 2 vs Ryad, OL, Inquisitor

You flew that really well both times.

I think it's good after watching that lol

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the AI on that benchmark game is absolutely horrible. Those games give you 0 indication of a squad's effectiveness, because the AI flew both of those games so terribly. You'd have to be an idiot not to win, to be frank.

As for the squad itself, I think it is not a bad idea. I don't think you have to be super concerned about aces such as Soontir with this list, since all of your ships can threaten him to some degree, especially if you can block.

IG88s should actually be a tough matchup (unless they are flown as idiotically as the AI did in that game above), as well as Dengaroo. For that reason, I would leave the bombers as is. However, if you do at some point find it difficult to get ordnance off with both bombers, it may be worth changing one into:

Gamma Vet w/ deadeye, plasma torp, extra munitions & guidance chips = 25

It doesn't hit as hard, but has an easier time firing its ordnance since no target locks required. You even have an extra 2 points to add something to the list (probably flechette torps or an ion bomb would be the most useful).

Seriously. Benchmarker is good for trying out set pieces and idle time but to get any real idea of how well a list plays, you need humans.

This list is OK, but it will REALLY struggle against Hyperdash. WIth only 5 ships of lower PS than his you're right on the threshold of being able to trap him and still usefully attack him already, as soon as he kills one he pretty much has free rein. And that won't take long.
