Terrain, while i wait.

By madtulip, in Runewars Miniatures Game

So i have a lot of industrial terrain for infinity and WH40K but never played WHFB or fantasy tabletops so i was thinking to build some terrain over the cold months until the game would show up. Is there any information on the size of the "trays" yet? That would help dimension things like roads/gates a lot.

Also are there gaming mats with bunny green gras you guys can recomment? I think green should be something to go for with this game for me. No industrial wastelands, no moons, no spacemaps, no ice or desert planets -> bunny green - suggestions? :)

I have never used mats but i have heard good things about the Micro Art Studio ( this one perhaps? ) mats and the mats of Deep Cut Studios ( this , this , this or that one) and i have heard that the ones from Kraken Wargames are also good but it seems they haven't opened their shop yet but you can see pictures in their Kickstarter, the Ancient Green would be the mat for you i think

Ok, so what's the catch with the Deep Cut mats? A 4x6 mat for 23 Euro!? Seems like a steal.

One of the reasons I am getting into RuneWars is that is a perfect war game to use with my TerraTiles system. I got one box of Misty Moorlands and two boxes of River and Coasts.

My plan is to use a grip mat on the bottom, TerraTiles on top, and some choice Heroscape rocks laying out and about to give it a little 3D pop inland.

Hi have several mouespad mats from deep cut studio - I highly recommend those. They also make nice terrain tiles, rivers and roads are especially useful.

Which is almost the same conversion rate...

ah well, forgot about brexit :-P

I estimate that will have about 7 centimeters

If you have a leoric figure from descent 2nd ed lying around, this could give you a really rough estimate. Unfortunately I'm at school at the moment and don't know the exact size of leoric's base.

the tray under the rune golem is the same size as all of the trays, the spearman trays have 4 figures in them, and although it is different for each unit type, generally the biggest formation you will find will be 4 trays across.

I can't tell you, I don't know the production costs of Deep Cut's or other companies mats are and how much money they want to make with them, perhaps Deep Cut makes less money per mat than other companies but hopes to sell more mats. And I don't know how high the wages are in Lithuania which is where they located according to their website.

I just finished some dark stone pillars/outcroppings and an arch for 40k. Have always liked the 'grassy' look of a field for a fantasy game, though, the board I have is dark grey and moon-like. I might have to invest in a grass mat. Kraken Mats quality looks amazing, there's one from Frontline Gaming which looks alright in a darker green but those Deep Cut Studio ones look really vibrant in the photos, hard to choose! Some trees along with the 'pool' from the core set will probably make for a decent table for this game :D

You did that? Is an excellent job. Very very good, congratulations

Got around to creating a board and getting some terrain for this game, was totally inspired by the awesome board from the RuneWars Gen Con Demos .

Less of a swampy theme and more 'woodland'.

Still contemplating whether or not to make a river or get more forests to go with it. Possibly some more stone features would go well. I know the core set will come with a swampy pool and ESLO Terrain where most of the terrain came from does a pool which looks pretty much the same, but I think the cardboard one in the core set may look just fine.

Nice board, and if you have the the time why not make a river would surely look nice on the board.

I have a grassy fields F.A.T. Mat. Mouse pad material, great quality and comes with a case for easy storage and transportation.
