Dual Sided Card idea for Firesprays

By markcsoul, in X-Wing

Side A

Increase your primary attack value by 1 and decrease your auxiliary attack value by 1.

Side B

Increase your auxiliary attack value by 1 and decrease your primary attack value by 1.

I'm thinking you have to choose a side at the start of the game like with adaptability. Being able to switch back and forth during the game might be too powerful and if it was done that way would require a higher cost so might not get used.

Probably a title or mod so all can take it. More likely a generic title since the unique titles suck. Not sure about cost...maybe free?

Thoughts?

It's really good, but I'm not sure Firesprays need the help!

Kath Scarlet with Tailgunner will be really really good...

Also, the trick with the current titles is Slave 1 + Extra Munitions + Proton Bombs. Two proton bombs, only costs you 8 points.

And thematically, I'm not sure we should be seeing that many Firesprays anyway... I think one of the old Legends sources said there were only 6 of them in existence...

Slave 1 + Extra Munitions + Proton Bombs. Two proton bombs, only costs you 8 points.

7, title is 0, but yeah.

Give me an idea. Not sure what the other side would do, but:

"You may attack enemy ships in your auxiliary arc with [cannon] secondary weapons. You may not attack ships in your primary arc with [cannon] secondary weapons."

Basically, the ability to rotate the big guns forward or backward.

Increase your primary attack value by 1 and decrease your auxiliary attack value by 1.

If the conversation is around 100 point tournament play then Firesprays could use help.

They are not Syck, Tie Punisher, or E wing generic bad but they are not played much in tournaments.

I think that would work better if its attacks worked like the ARC's title. As it stands, a 4th attack die, no matter which side, I feel would be too much. Just look at how much of a monster the Ghost can be, even when it can only fire out of the front.

Personally, I think the Firespray is fine (at least in Scum, it could probably use some help with Empire). Scum Kath with VI, Engine Upgrade, K-4 Security Droid, and Glitterstim is a monster. Throw on a Thermal Detonator for good measure and watch the pain unfold.

I like the dual card idea in the first post; I think a Firespray dual card that allowed cannons to switch between the primary and auxiliary arcs would be cool, too.

Ghost vs.. Firespray comparison is an interesting one, especially comparing the Scum versions:

Both large base.

Essentially the same point value (35 cheapest, 39/40 most expensive)

Pilot skill -- advantage Firespray with PS 8 to PS 5 vs Ghost PS 7 to PS 3

Pilot abilities -- Better in the Firesprays, though not bad in the Ghost.

Attack -- advantage Ghost with 4 vs 3.

Arc -- advantage Firespray with full-time aux vs Ghost "special"

Defense -- advantage Firespray with 2 vs Ghost 0

Health -- Advantage Ghost with 10/6 vs Firespray 6/4

Dial -- Advantage Ghost with 1 hards & 5K (though Firespray has 1 soft green)

Upgrades: Firespray has EPT, cannon, missile, illicit, & bomb; Ghost has System, an extra crew & torpedo, and turret. More or less a wash; depends on your list. Loss of EPT is huge but system and crew slots are extremely valuable.

Special: Ghost has the title when paired with Phantom.

Pretty comparable over all in feature count, but the value of those features can vary quite a bit with list & use. We generally think of the Firespray as a few points over costed; by that logic is the same true of the Ghost?

A (second) free Elite Pilot Talent (restricted to 1-2 points) would probably help.

I think the lothal is a bit better than the mando for comparison. Yes it has no ept or rear arc. But the 5k makes it easy to turn around, and fcs helps offense a lot. Also autoblaster is nicer to have against aces over feedback.

The combination of the advantages make the ghost significantly better, whereas the Firespray doesnt have many synergies.

FCS, Electronic Baffle, Kanan Jarrus(Crew) etc. make the ghosts' dial much better.

The PS is 5 to 8 or 3 to 7 btw.

.maybe free?

Good LORD no. This amounts to +1 attack for ever, and it's worth an accordingly huge amount of points. EVen taking into account that Firesprays are probably a little undercosted, probably upwards of 6 points.

(It also doesn't use appropriate language to describe the effect on secondaries, though the intent is clear I think.)

Or do you mean +1 attack in primary arc/+1 attack in auxiliary arc?

Either way it would be insanely undercosted at 0. For reference, even really difficult to proc extra dice such as Finn or Opportunist cost 4 or more. Extra dice are expensive.

Well, yeah, yeah it would. No probably about it.

HLC ( plug !) is 7 points and is significantly worse than what you're proposing. Free?!?

What would be very fitting:

Reducing points for changing the aux arc into a mobile fire arc (front/back)
