How does your Arc build look?

By Mcpolle, in X-Wing

So, in not so very long, the Arc is on the streets, I have mot used it in Vassal, so am maybe a little behind, but those of you that have, how have you been building yours?? What's hot,??

Man why when im not at my comp...

Okay, ARC basics

1.) aux arc is literally the reason theyre a thing. You will use it A LOT more than the far bigger front guns, unless youre chasing turrets

2.) 2 dice primaries are still ASS

3.) 1 and 2 combined means you got two options

First is Norra or some other means to get aboce 2 dice plus tailgunner. 2 dice tailgunner just bounces off of evade tokens

Second is stress. Ie r3a2 and either tactician or gunner

Both braylen and thane can work stress (r3a2 only shuts ability off v lower ps)

Braylen is better with gunner because his ability doesnt care if he double stresses himself. Thane is otherwise better unless you dont have a point

Thane can also pack plasmas (essentially becoming a torp scout) in addition to srress control. You only get one but you rarely fire out the front more than once anyway

4.) if flying Norra r2d2 is MANDATORY

Dont even try to be cute. This little guy makes her viable as a late game ship. Havnt had a game yet where he hasnt AT THE VERY LEAST given 4 to 5 shields (150% an ARC essentially)

Ptl is also necessary for her ability (could use r3a2 and kk, but look no room for r2d2)

With six greens and an aux arc, stress just isnt an issue

5.) vts are great. Sucks you have to pay for em (Sf....) but sucks more to not be able to roll. Shenanigans with aux arc are unreal

6.) most importantly, BIGGS

ARCs are fragile and slow. This is not negotiable

TLDR;

r2d2 ptl tailgunner vt norra

R3a2 with either gunner braylen or tactician thane. Vts optional and always welcome (even on braylen); maybe plasmas and gchips for thane

Biggs

Norra Wexley

Veteran Instincts

R2-D2

Tail Gunner

Vectored Thrusters

Alliance Overhaul

Fairly solid, nothing groundbreaking.

Because you dont have ptl

You dont need vi

1v1 against any ace you already win just by going to time

Fickle, thx for all those points, helps out a bunch, am looking forwards to getting some Arc games in, have you played them much, and if so against what ??

like this, but with a bunch more mosquitoes and a harem of sheep.

Nothing but arcs for a month

Against HEAPS of x7 defenders, a dengaroo (local group not impressed), some palp aces, couple asorted scum (a party bus, handful of fangs, shadowcasters here andd there with an aggressor tlt backup etc,) and some dash with extra

Theyve won a lot more than lost, mainly on norras back, but their slowness and reliance on biggs means a LOT of practice is needed. Biggest problem for norra were fast large bases with 4 dice. Aggressors were the least problematic, but dash cant be beat without stress. Being slow sometimes sucks

Unlike bomb Ks, the dice can have a frustrating amount of sway :( dems the breaks sadly

Love em to pieces but i had to take a break. Played with some x7s; nice to go faster than speed 2 :P

It's been the opposite for me. Have been flying Defenders the last two months. So am looking for something different.

But I can see there will be some squads that will be hard to get a bead on.

Ignore Fickle - Biggs ruins the aesthetic! Some things are more important than not being blown up.

aesthetics aren't a problem once biggs is gone

which happens quickly

Good point!

My Arc has 2 of every animal and is coming along just fine!

But to be serious, I have no idea how i am going to build it, I dont really play rebels and this thread has helped a lot

I've seen little love for Thane of late, so I though I would throw in a build for him. This build definitely works best with when flown alongside Biggs, otherwise Thane becomes target #1.

Thane + VT + Title + Tailgunner

Step 1: Move into blocking position, and take an action, preferably a TL.

Step 2: The ship you blocked shoots someone else, because they are unable to shoot at Thane. Thane uses his free action to BR off of the blocked ship and then fires at R1.

When flown well, this build frequently results in multiple TL+F R1 shots. Most people also don't seem to realize that Thane's ability activates against ships in his *rear* arc as well.

I'm sure plenty of people realize the utiltiy

problem with 2-dice tailgunner is a single evade token literally cuts your max damage potential in half outside range 1

with the average of 1 evade on 3 agi, there goes the rest of your damage

TG just isn't enough to make your 2 die primary on a 30+ point ship worthwhile. You use it on norra because she can generate an additional damage (and because she's already a defensive monster)

nothing wrong with r3-a2 tactician thane with VTs, though. can alternatively combine with plasmas and g-chips

due to his ability, Thane's TL comes out during combat as opposed to during activation which dodges all the typical problems of low PS TL (as well as countermeasures). He is, for all intents and purposes, a deadeye torpscout for one shot. Then he keeps on stressing people

Some I'm considering:

Braylen + Title + R3A2 + Tail Gunner (StressArc)

Norra + Title + R7-T1 + PTL + C3PO + Thrusters (reliable 4-dice out the front, sometimes 5, only 1 guaranteed hit though; sub Tailgunner for 3PO to trade defense for rear offense)

Norra + Title + Targeting Astromech + Finn + Predator (or Lone Wolf) (reliable 4 dice out the rear, only 1 guaranteed hit though)
