Multi attacks on a unit

By bernardz, in Battlelore

Say three units attack one unit in a turn. Surely the shoukd be considered to be at the same time. So the three units attack before defender gets their battle back

Any thoughs on this:

Old post I know, but I had a thought on it.....

We've tried a house rule on this one. For each attack that has previously triggered a battle back from the defending unit in a turn, the defender gets a -1d to battle back. (I state this way because range attacks would not invoke the -1d rule)

It definately opened up some new strategies like having a couple green goblin cavalry go in to soften up a unit before dropping the hammer on them. I liked this variation because it seemed silly to me that four green units could swarm a red infantry and each one of them get their rears handed to them by the defender. This way, there's actually an advantage to swarm tactics.

Just my 2 cents worth. There again I never was too good at playing just by the published rules.

I'm not too sure that doing all three attacks before allowing battle backs is the way to go (OP) for two reasons, one game mechanic the other thematic:
Mechanic - this would greatly reduce the use of embedding a musician with unit
Thematic - I have in my mind a description of the units (and possibly more important what removing a miniature from a unit means):
green units are peasant levee called upon to fight for king & country and are lightly armoured with minimal training.
whilst red are hard bitten veterans of the standing army, have the optimum amount of armour to maximise their effectiveness and have been fighting together for years (yes I know about mud and Agincourt but then again the way the noble troops behaved I'd rate them as blue infantry no matter what fancy armour they were wearing).
Removing a figure isn't necessarily deaths but the ability of the unit to fight in a cohesive unit until it no longer provides a meaningful presence on the battlefield.

To me by giving well equiped, motivated, trained and experienced units battle backs against three mobs dragged from some villages as the army passes is quite right (excuse the needless self boosting of my arguement, hopefully you can see the point behind the message though)
