Does no Red Dice mean a dead ship?

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada

Just wondering but looking at range and all the different combos it seems like any ship that is missing red dice lose allot of use. First off the ship cannot make attacks at long range. Take any ship that has blue dice and put it up against a ship with a red die and some black dice. It seems like the ship with the 1 red die tends to win.

So given a ship without red dice what can make up for the lack of range? I see the raider was given double anti squadron dice but that still doesn't seem like enough. Or is it simply give all ships red dice or equip something that allows them to shoot at red range?

I use CR90Bs and MC30Ts to great effect all the time. Also a non demo glad is a really good ship to and it has nothing to do with its two red dice out the front.

Certainly not. There are many mechanics that reduce the effectiveness of red dice at long range.

Raiders.

No.

This is from a tournament last Saturday. That shrimp has Ordnance Experts, Assault Proton Torpedoes, H9 Turbolasers, and Admonition. It dropped out of hyperspace with two side arcs into the nose of that MC80 and crapped all over it, then scootched off to the other end of the board to clinch an 8-4 by the end of round 2.

about to say

poor GR-75 has no anti-ship batteries at all :(

apart from the refit that is still designed to not be utterly busted with akbar

Red dice have the highest miss percentage and lowest critical chance.

It is all about position your ships at the right range.

If you can't do this you will loose the game.

Don't forget the evade defense tokens are the most effective at long range.
