What are you storing your cards in?

By NiallNai, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I just got WFRP3e for Christmas and I have an easy answer for storing the fiddly bits (counters, etc) in the form of old baby food containers (some of my son's later baby food containers are even large enough to store the character counters, except for the two big ones). I can even keep them in the box and still make everything fit in the box.

But I was wondering: what are people using to keep the various cards contained?

I'm a philistine, I just store them in the box with elastic bands wrapped around each deck, except for the career card which are stored in the little cardboard divider from the adventures toolkit and the counters that are stored in the plastic bags the game came with.

I've put them all in Photo Protector Sheets so that I can easily sort and reference them. I thought about individual card protectors, but that may only be the case for actual play.

1. Photo Protector Sheets (for the 2.5x3.5 cards)

2. Negative Protector Sheets (for the 4x5 career cards)

3. Photo protector sheets (for the 1.5x2.5 "small" cards)

I've bagged up all the chits and stuff in Zyplock (since I won't be using any of that stuff).

I placed the small cards in jewellery accessory boxes - these boxes have compartments large and deep enough for the cards with protectors. As for the standard sized cards, I'll use deck protectors and put them in deck boxes. As they are used usually during character creation and advancement only, those cards would probably see least time on the table.

I'm trying to upload a picture here as an example, but I don't know how to use the image function. Can anyone help?

Edit: you can use this link temporarily until I find a better option :

Baseball Card box. I put them in sleves and then into the box. It's a nice cheap way to store them.

The small cards fit nicely into a standard card case. I had a spare one laying around from my CCG days. It is an UltraPro 100 count 2-Piece box.

You just put the small cards in so that the face of the card is where the bottom of a standard card would be. Mine is a two piece hard plastic case that fits them quite nicely and probably has enough spare room for the adventurer's toolkit expasion.

The big cards I could put in another case, but right now I have them in the 9 card pages as I find them easier to flip through while looking at action cards.

As with most of my FFG board games, I store my cards and equipment in Ziploc bags...

Snack size for the smaller bits and quart size for the character and party sheets.

I usually creates my own card boxes. It's not that difficult and you'll end up with boxes that fits your need perfectly. I have created boxes big enough to fit my sleeved cards and have separate boxes for different actions and so on. Now its quicker to setup a game and cards not used are easy to find if needed.

Here is a link to a site where you can use to create custom boxes.

I'm storing my action/location cards in ultra pro sleeves and stored flat in a folder. I also store the condition cards using these sleeves.

For my sideways small cards, I'm actually using business card sleeves for (in the same folder) because you can store the cards sideways and get more of them on a page than with the ultra pro sleeves.

My wound cards/insanity cards/tokens are all currently being stored in a single GMT counter tray which I've modified. I prefer this solution because it just sits in the middle of the gaming table for everyone to use and stores inside the WFRP box after you've attached the lid. (see pics below)

As for character sheets and party cards, I use sandwich size ziplock bags to store these in. Also all the completed characters go inside these for easy storage.

All of my standard sized and small sized cards have FFG sleeves on them. The character sheets have 4x5" photo sleeves on them.

So everything is stored well :)
