Looking for original Star Wars movies

By IG88E, in X-Wing

Maybe a bit offtopic, but:

I am looking for the original Star Wars trilogy movies. Does someone know where to get them? I mean the (remastered) version where I do not have to look into Hayden Christensen´s face at the end.

I also know there are also some fan made pieces out there with some special edition inside, but without Hayden Christensen. That would be ok too.

Please help, I really need to have the movies without "Anakin Skywalker" ;)

Thank you in advance!

Description will tell you where to go to get the information. It takes some tracking, but it is totally worth it. Just make sure you own the actual Blu-Ray collection or karma will get you!

I have my copy, it took about a week to get everything and put it together, but totally worth it.

There was the VERY low quality theatrical release as an extra on one DVD set I purchased... Fuzzy, forced letterbox format that can't fit into modern televisions... It's also hard to find now and hardly worth chasing. I still have my THX release VHS tapes, but my VHS player is eating tapes again and these are... likely to be a little degraded now.

I should download the above... With the blue ray, DVD and VHS copies I own, I think I'm owed that much...

For Episode IV, I highly recommend looking into the Silver Screen Edition that was remastered from a discovered 35mm print of the original theatrical version. It was released by Team Negative One a little while back. Best version of Episode IV to have, in my opinion.

The recent two-disc limited edition release had the original theatrical version on the second disc, and exists for all three movies. It's not super high quality because it's the original with late 1970's technology. They were like $30 each on ebay, but well worth it to see Han shoot first, see Mos Eisley without all the weird beasts and GR-75 transport, and see all the scenes on Yavin that got deleted in the new "updates".

Just search "star wars original theatrical version dvd" on ebay.com and get anything that says 2 discs and has a gold-colored band across the top and bottom of the dvd case.

I have the OT in vhs that's never been played. Make me an offer.

I have the VHS THX Remastered Version. :D

Though iirc there is one of the latest BR editions which offers the original version + the digital special edition remastered ones.

Not on Blu-ray. That was the DVD edition Kieransi mentions above. No theatrical versions have been officially released on Blu-ray. Which is why I have not yet purchased the Blu-rays. I want the movies I saw on-screen in 1977, 1980 and 1983. However (incomprehensibly) embarrassed by them Lucas seems to be*, those are the versions to which he owes his entire legacy. They should be available.

*His own alma mater USC wanted to show Star Wars to represent the 1970s in a decade-by-decade retrospective they were doing, and he insisted they could only show the 1997 special edition. To represent the 1970s. Come on.

I'm a fan of Adywan's Star Wars Revisited . We only have Episode IV at moment and Ep V is just around the corner (though it has been 'just around the corner' for a while now.

Han shoots first in this version.

Whilst not the original, I believe it's the best version.

I also have the last VHS produced of the original series. Amazingly they've only been viewed once.
