RebelDaves NEW Vehicle (NPC) Cards!

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

These are absolutely fantastic and I don't know how I didn't see them sooner!

Is there any chance of getting an editable template for these? I have every intention of using them in my games for when the party has a landspeeder or a temporary starfighter situation that doesn't merit a full page with their character sheet, but in addition to wanting to edit to print multiple of the same vehicle, I do have some homebrew stats I'd love to be able to do up.

Or was one already posted and I simply missed it scrolling through the pages?

The thread is old, and ive not released anything in a while, which is why you probably never saw it sooner.

But thank you for the compliment :) I am glad you like them.

Editable template... afraid not. Since I did them all in Publisher, its not a program that allows for editable templates in the way Photoshop does. I could make cards to order, if given the stats and an image, but I have covered most of the core ships in the books where I can find suitable images (Which is the real hurdle), but the idea behind the cards is that they provide the base stats for published ships.

What I really need is someone to proof some of the cards waiting to be released, as Brad has too much on his plate at the moment, and I like to release a finish product. But that might change, I have some Capital Ship cards to release, but its been so long I need to look at them all again.

If I weren’t trying to cram about 14 hours of work into a 10 hour work day currently, I’d gladly offer to proof them for you. (Yeah, you read those numbers right...am I coming or going right now?)

I think the best thing is to post what I have, and let the community proof them :)

Its only my OCD to release without errors that stops me really...

I have too much time and waiting on FO so could proof for you if you let me know what you are looking for in particular. Just errors and ommissions? Or more in depth? Testing (printing and verifying boarders and the like?

All the above.

Brad generally checked if the information was accurate to the book, if the book reference was correct, if the punctuation and such was correct, if the layout and margins were consistent.

Printing is abit of a nightmare, as the margins are so fine, and printers have different tolerances. I have had a nightmare getting mine to print square (front to back), so would likely resort to printing on seperate pages, and then sleeving the front and back together.

But yeah... drop me a PM :)

”Single card formatting for makeplayingcards.com.”

:P

But seriously, since I’m playing around with formatting similar cards for the NPCs on mySWRPG.com, I’d gladly offer to help with swapping out formatting...if I could squeeze some time out of the day.

I was going to get round to reformatting them for makeplayingcards, I just havnt gotten to it.. between not playing Star Wars currently, a loathing for my current job, and mental health issues, its kinda fallen by the wayside.

Totally understandable.

I was mostly kidding.

Mostly.

Abit of Thread Necro...

EU Starfighters has been updated slightly, to replace the images for the TIE Aggressor, and TIE Hunter.

I was not happy with either image originally, but it was the best I could do at the time.

However, since the Aggressor has not got an X-Wing game miniature, it also come with awesome artwork, and my Photoshops skills have improved slightly that I took a new shot at the Hunter image.

I feel both are better than the originals, so... to keep things alive, these have been updated.

In the pipeline, there are more cards awaiting checking, including Capitol Ships. I was waiting for Brad to check these, but since life has gotten in the way of things for him, I may simply put these up and let you lovely lot check them for me, rather than let them sit on my hard drive unseen by anyone but myself.

Of course, any requests, or comments, suggestions, feedback, constructive criticism is very welcome :)

In other news.

I have made a rather rookiee mistake.

My Capitol Ship cards (by neccessity) larger than the other cards (Which are Poker Sized).

I had originally designed them at 125x88mm. Which fitted 4 per page nicely.

This is, however, not a regular size.

For reference, Armadas Ship Cards, are 120x70mm. And FFG make Sleeves to fit this size.

Unfortunatly, reducing my cards to this size is going to severly reduce the real estate available to me for information. Required a massive resdesign across all 12 cards I have done thus far (admitedly, 12 months ago).

The question is therefore: Do people want them Tarot Sized (120x70), or are you happy with a larger, possibly unsleevable size I have currently?

There are sleeves available in 120x80, but even that will require a resdesign.

So.... opinions?

I'm sure that some would prefer the same size as the armada sleeves or another size that would work with an existing sleeve.

Myself personally I would say what ever is best for you. Worst case they could just resize the cards themselves to fit what they want.

Small update after so long!

This one is abit off the usual track.

PODRACERS! (Link in first post).

Basically, all 6 Podracers from Endless Vigil, in case you want to run some actual races.

Also included are upgrades listed in EV for Podracers, so you can customise the Stock racers easily.

Now, these cards have not been vetted in anyway. I pretty much knocked them up in the last 2 days, and learnt some tricks in Photoshop (my weakpoint) on the way. So, please point out any errors :)

I have not done cards for the 3 basic parts to build your own Podracer, simply because I have not worked out a good way of doing so... yet...

So.. there you go...

Lemme know!

OK. Interesting connundrum.

Stay On Target.
Quasar Fire Class Carrier. (Page 61).

Now, on the following page is an image of what I presume to be this ship.
It is very similar to the Light Carrier from Rebels, with the main differece being the "Single Large Hanger" as opposed to the "Four Seperate Hangers"

Wookieepedia, and Star Wars Armada, both list the carrier from Rebels, is a Quasar Fire as well.

The Fluff in the book specifies it is a Rebel ship.

The Rebels show clearly indicates it is an Imperial vessel (albeit, stolen).

Wookieepedia lists it as an Imperial Vessel.

Now, the image difference could simply be down to a design change 'in universe' or an earlier model, or the one in the book might not be a Quasar.

All that aside, my cards are intended to be used with the RPG Game.... so... what should I do?

Mark it as a Rebel ship, or Imperial? (Marker on the back of the card), or Both?
Use the image from the book, or one closer to the one in the Rebels show? (I have both).

Feedback and suggestions solicited!

Cheers!

Well, the Inquisitors of Canon would come forward to say that Rebels is the most canonical source right now and thus, it would be an Imperial vessel. They'll probably cut me down for saying it but I say use whichever picture you like better.

Thanks.

But I struggle with decisions (mental health issues), so that is both really helpful, and utterly unhelpful ;)

Its a tossup between Canon, and staying in line with the Books (which the cards are designed to work with).

That said, the Quasar Fire Carrier would almost certainly be more recognised from Rebels, than the book. So... hrmm..

Well, this won't help then: Why not create one of each? You've made an excellent case for either.

Creative types often struggle in this way, I hope you are able to find a path forward!

This is indeed an option.

I just wish there was a "correct" way of doing it..... ARGH, i hate my brain..

Hey, this is the correct way! Only a small percentage of people will complain about both, whereas you've satisfied the needs of the vast majority of people. "Perfect is the enemy of good enough," after all.

The correct way of doing it, in my opinion, is to mark it as imperial.

The one described in the book is written before its appearance in canon (rebels) and its entire backstory is thus completely negated by the canon.
So, it's marked in the book as being rebel because there was no current canon appearance of the ship at that time. And the legends had it pinned down as a rebel ship based on a bulk freighter.

This has changed and it is now securely canonized as an imperial ship after its appearance in Rebels, which is canon material.

Mark your card imperial, as that is the current canon.

(the book is, after all, from December, 2014. A mere two months after Rebels premiered. There was no way they could know that the Quasar was going to appear in that show years later)

Just wanted to say thanks! I just started running AoR and needed some resources and this has been beyond helpful. I've got a nice new stack of cards printed and ready to go, can't wait to see what's next for Sil 5! Amazing work.

Eeehhh....

Might as well publish Sil5 Pt 2 then. (Link in first post).

Its not been vetted, so any errors, please let me know.

Next up, will probably be the 3 sets of Capitol Ship cards (Thats 12 cards), that I am now reworking the sizes of, so they will fit in sleeves.

I just get .. twitchy releaseing stuff that might have errors... but if I dont, they wont ever get seen.

Lemme know!

AMAZING! Absolutely amazing, you've got all the ships I was hoping for! Running a bit right now where the PCs have to escape a Vigil-class, this is gonna be so helpful. I can't do much to help double check you, but I've got the AoR core book so I was able to check the Vigil, Consular and CR-90 - all of them look good but you might want to double check the CR-90's second weapon set, I don't believe it's supposed to have the linked quality. According to my book at least!

Thanks again man!

Correct. And fixed. Link should remain the same, you may need to refresh a cache or something if it doesnt show up.

Thank you :)

And thank you for liking them!

OK,

After so much worry and procrastinations, I have put up my Capitol Ship cards.

These may have errors, please point them out. I finished them after having a drink. My mental health issues have fought me every way on these, because I want them to be perfect, but without any quality control, I cannot be sure.

They are designed to 120x80mm, which you can get sleeves for from Mayday games. FFG do not do a sleeve this size, and tha tarot size was just too small for my brain to cope with.#

I hope you like them.
