I guess so. He has a point but Jan doesn't/hasn't died for me like that before.

Wasn't meant to be... and apologies to everyone if it sounded that way. I don't really play to win so much as have fun and learn better tactics. Sometimes we just draw random Objectives and play them, regardless of if your fleet sucks for it, just to mix it up and learn things outside the comfort zone of your fleet build.

I am just trying to understand the exactness of his placement and tactics to avoid Jan death... because Jan never dies that way for him, yet almost always dies that way for me. Maybe we just play against the people that make our tactics work for each of us, but if he has a great way to make it work, I'd like to get an understanding of it so I can be ready for it if I see it later, and use it myself. If I get a couple of hours for Vassal in the next month, I will have to get with you and play the first 3 turns just to see the fighter deployments, the rest of the game after that is pointless as the game will have likely been decided at that point.

I tried a Liberty variant that was fun. This all started with Mothma's Angels and has gradually changed from Salvation-->Gallant Haven-->Defiance-->Liberty

It's the longest I think I've stuck with a single concept and has been quite fun. Flight Commander and FCT makes all the difference. With B-wings and YT's being as mobile as X's it's just gross. Certainly better with this list for sure.

The Liberty did well last night. It's nice having front fire for both damage dealers. Makes driving a bit easier.
