World Cup Qualifier - Rule and Signup Thread

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

Matt Antilles vs PT106 ended up in Matt's win (274-178) 7-4 96 MoV

That was a very challenging game with a lot of hot and cold rolls as well as just-in-time critical effects. Some highlights from the game: Tycho being killed by TIE Bomber early turn 3,
a hunt for Demolisher that ended up with a lucky crit that forced it to discard brace without using it and sealed it's fate, Power Failure crit received by Insidious just before Eng command and
Targeter Disruption on Admonition that robbed it a chance to kill Motti's VSD. A lot of good navigation and good decisions from Matt that brought him a well-deserved win.

Me vs. PYQZ, He took first player and chose my superior positions

Win goes to me 245-179, 66 MOV for a 7-4

Moff slow rolled and sent his terror cloud before him, slowly wiping up the Jan x wing crew, allowing the endeavor to push forward into dangerous proximity to the VSD's. Shots were exchanged, bombers bombed and Bright hope went down, so did both gozanti's. The VSD's circled the best they could, one trying to block the endeavor from Moff and losing its life next, but moff got out of the front arc in the last round to survive. Great game and I look forward to playing PYQZ again.

CaribbeanNinja vs Ardaedhel - Sept 25th @ 10am (EDT)

Was this game played?

Also, do we need to state when we take our Mulligan, or is a 10-1 shellacking pretty obvious? If not, I'd like to erase that mess CNinja handed me........

Mulligans will be automatically applied to your worst game (if applicable).

On the other hand if you win 10 / 1, 10 / 1, then lose 1 / 10, no mulligan will be applied. (Averaged to 7.00)

Was this game played?

I totally messed up the time thinking it was Central and Ard had a situation to deal with so we will try to reschedule.

SoonerTed vs CaribbeanNinja goes 9-2 To me (244 MOV: 311-67)

I was first player and chose Minefields. SoonerTed placed mines on either side of the map, forcing engagement in the middle. Motti's VSD went down first to sustained attack in turn 3. Then Warlord and Vector followed. SoonerTed was using Nav commands to keep his arcs towards my nimble fleet and was able to pop a TRC90. In the end I downed all but Needa's VSD and SoonerTed got a TRC90 and a YT2400.

This was a really fun game with SoonerTed who is new to vassal. I'm glad he's joined our ranks and look forward to our next game.

Myself vs SkyCake, tomorrow (Monday) 8:30pm Pacific/9:30 Mountain

Anyone available for a game either Thursday 10 AM - 4 PM PDT or Friday 10 AM - 7 PM PDT?

Huh? I thought we dropped our lowest score, hence the mulligan. I don't quite understand this statement about the average and not dropping that loss.

I'm available Friday, at 4PM PDT.

I think he is just saying that there is no need to drop it, as you have already qualified with a 7 average, even with the 1/10. Hence the "(if applicable)" in the sentence above it. Maybe it should read "if necessary"

Terms of engagement.

I'm only available to play games at European evening time. (And I mean evening not nightime...) For EmFranks benefit that is about 10am onwards PDT.

I will not post my fleet in this thread.

I will be playing with testing fleets.

I will not bring extreme counter fleets as no one learns anything from those. I already know 8 Bwings takes down a no squads list, I want to test ideas that I cant run for the first time in tournaments.

Now with that done. Challenge away.

Dropping CNinj a PM.

Anyone up for a game either tonight or tomorrow (evenings EST)?

Lesson learned - until JerJerrod makes his debut, Warlord can't turn fast enough to line up AAA shots on squadrons with a speed greater than 3. JerJerrod is a badly needed fix for VSDs.

Lesson Learned #2 - without X17's, VSD's can't make their big shots count against pesky Rebels and their redirects.

Lesson Learned #3 - Han makes quick work of TIE's.

It was a great game with a great competitor (who thoroughly trashed my fleet).

Hey Roquax, what time were you thinking exactly?

I would love to get a game in this week, preferably after 9pm Pacific time, but I know that we are behind most people so that would be late late for most everyone else. Let me know if there is anyone that can fit one in.

If not then I Thursday or Friday I could probably do afternoon Pacific time, 12-5 pm.

Hey BrobaFett, I might be able to do a game after 9pm Pacific. That suits me perfectly! :) What days are good for you? I'm committed to Roquax on Thursday, but other nights are a possibility....

Anyone up for a game either tonight or tomorrow (evenings EST)?

I may be available late Tuesday evening.

SoonerTed - Tuesday evening works. Can you do 8PM (EST)?

BrobaFett - 9PM (PST) is way too late for me unfortunately.
