What's the etiquette for posting fleets? Is that required or is that optional?

I've not been posting. Because you're not committed to a fleet until you show up to the table, I don't think there's any need to. I would also hope that my opponents not tell me what fleet they're bringing, so I'm not influenced in my own list building.

Anyone up for a game tonight (evenings EST)?

My game tonight cancelled. How about 8PM eastern (7 Central)?

Done. I'll see you online at 8PM EST.

Do you use google hangouts or anything similar?

On the first post it mentions posting fleets. I have been using Skype for communicating. A couple of my opponents have mentioned possibly using Teamspeak. Also, are you still available for Friday 4 PM PDT?

GK vs JJ

6-5 to me (MoV 7)

I was 1st, picked his Outpost.

Ackbar and his pimped H1 and 2 MC30 buddies with BH as a groupie, took on D-man and his incredible 12 squads (I had 2 - Tycho and A-wing).

I wanted to test a nearly squad-less list I might take to this weekends tourney, and what better than to test it against a mass of 12 squads, 13 of them bombers?

I only got 1 station token, but my ET H1 + MC30s were too fast for his bombers to pin. And BH is a beast! H1+TRC Ackbar broadsides were also painfully effective.

"... and what better than to test it against a mass of 12 squads, 13 of them bombers?"

That IS impressive...it broke MATH!

;)

Both players must post a fleet to be eligible for a matchup of the week. Otherwise it is optional.

I'm CST if anyone wants to challenge me, I'm likely free tomorrow until the afternoon, then variably on the weekend.

Good Game and well played sir, sorry I had to run so quickly at the end. Without boosted comms I really couldn't keep up with the swirl and stay on the station. I tried to block with my CR90, but shoddy maneuvering killed the CR90 swiftly. If only I could have saved that one Y-wing (my only squad casualty) :P

Also, I should be playing Matt the Shadowlord Thursday September 29th at 8PM US Central Time (GMT -5) pending confirmation.

My list will be the same as vs Green Knight.

I'll be on in about 3 hours if anyone wants to get a game in.

Lol.

That's because they all ran away after ONE casualty!

One good round os AS+QLT and more would have joined that fellow...

Same as your AFs really, I think they were down to 2 and 1 hull respectively :D

Yeah, because I decided to ram my self twice, lol. They were never in any danger IMO :P

such a good game.. right down to the last bwing activation on turn 6 to take out the final ship (interdictor)... had it not gone down it would have been a 6-5... my first time playing superior positions i must say i liked the scenario

i ran

coma won the bid and chose second... i took his superior positions eschewing hyperspace and precision strike... i was up in the air on either hyper or SP... meh...

i set it all up in middle left of board going slow... he set up right corner pointed at me going speed 1.... i tried to use grav shift but may have ended up helping him by providing some rocks for wedge to hide in... meh... we tokened up for the first couple of turns then i tried to make use of some aggressors to alpha some b wings... Jan put a cooler on that though... gah... at least i would be turning off FCT, but it didnt seem to matter long run... turn 3 i started having a tough decision to make with demo... go all in to try and knockout yvaris? or stay back and chew on squads... killing squads would have been neutering yvaris so i opted for that, though it took me another turn to get in range... during this time i should have qeued up some squad commands on demo, to help my squads gain initiative... slicer tools took out a squadron command from salvation and that helped somewhat, but then the goz exploded, even after being healed from interdoctor... meh, the wulff projection combo is expensive and the damage it heals is meh.... 15 points would be better spent on mithel... slicer tools is good however, and im going to bring another next time... if you shove them all in and take out the squad commands, then send in demo and other ships all at the same time, things can work out nicely... i haven't been able to pull this off yet but im getting the hang of it i think... demo took out some more squads and just before dying reduced salvation and yvaris to zero... did i mention rieken?? oh ya, he was there making life hell... i nuke jan like turn three, but bwings got to double tap regardless thanks to reiken... again turn 4 and five, he was making life hell for me... and the rams added up too ... geeze... any other general and the ruthless demo would have looked broken, bringing wedge and dutch from 4 to 0 in one activation, but zombie rebels just made it look meh....

some notes

1. its late

2. remember quadlaser turrets!

3. demo can do both strat and antiship, but only one at a time and it can be difficult to choose between the two...

4. titus can be ok specially with gravshift... meh

5. squadron commands, when you are trying to kill squads with your squads, squadron commands! even against reiken!

6. grav shift can be really good, i feel like its very thrawn-y... im not thrawn!

7. salvation is a good carrier!

8. dont assume you are going 2nd because 400

9. balls

Ard vs ItzSteve ends 163-140 for a 6-5 in my favor.

I was running Dodonna, some MC30's, and some other stuff. I'll post more later, but for now, SLEEP TIME.

Anyone want to play tonight at 21.30? (UTC +1)?

BrobaFett vs Maturin was 234-460, for a MoV of 226 (9-2) in my favor.

A hugely fun time, so props to BrobaFett on only his 4th Vassal game! He brought an MC80 Command Cruiser, 3 small ships, and a bunch of B-wings, Jan, Nym, and an A-wing. I brought an MC80 Battle Cruiser, 4 small ships, and a bunch of Y-wings, X-wings, Jan, and a HWK.

BrobaFett chose to go first and we played my Contested Outpost. Our two cruisers set up across from each other, and proceeded to collide at MAXIMUM SPEED, with each surrounded by a cloud of angry bombers. My Liberty was the first to succumb to the intense amount of firepower in that pocket of space, but the very next turn my Y-wings had their revenge. With an advantage in squadron commands remaining (Thanks Boosted Comms!!), my squadrons were able to achieve space superiority in the last few turns, and on the 6th turn the Y-wings were able to blast his last ship (a CR90)....but it was a close thing.

Great game sir!

I was wondering if your Aggressors would ignore my squads and try to rack up SP points to let Demo chew up my light ships. While it did come down to the last B-Wing activation, Toryn Far and 2 BCC's meant dealing 1 damage was going to be simple. Although it still could have happened, and I would have cried myself to sleep if it had. ;)

My fleet was Yavaris/FC/FCT/Rieekan, Salvation/Spinal/FCT/FC, GR75 Combat Refit/Bright Hope/Toryn Far/BCC/Boosted Comms, and GR75 Combat Refit/Lando/Boosted Comms/BCC plus 4x B-Wings, Luke, Wedge, Dutch, and Jan. It was an experiment to put all those squadron upgrades on Salvation, but I'll probably remove Flight Commander.

... but then the goz exploded, even after being healed from interdoctor... meh, the wulff projection combo is expensive and the damage it heals is meh.... 15 points would be better spent on mithel... slicer tools is good however, and im going to bring another next time...

I think the Wulff/PE combo is good, but having used it myself I knew I needed to just focus fire. It didn't force me into a difficult choice, it made my choices easier. It's especially poor with Gozantis since they only have 1 shield on every side. I'm beginning to believe that Projection Experts is only useful against lists that do smaller amounts of damage per activation. That doesn't favor a meta with Demo, squads, and hard hitting ships, ie. just about any meta. ;)

...did i mention rieken?? oh ya, he was there making life hell... i nuke jan like turn three, but bwings got to double tap regardless thanks to reiken... again turn 4 and five, he was making life hell for me... and the rams added up too ... geeze... any other general and the ruthless demo would have looked broken, bringing wedge and dutch from 4 to 0 in one activation, but zombie rebels just made it look meh....

Rieekan was worth five times his points this game.

...4. titus can be ok specially with gravshift... meh

As a 2-point officer that keeps your opponent from banking a token, he's useful. I have used him perhaps more often to speed a ship UP in order to see if my opponent will risk that ship engaging earlier than he wants.

8. dont assume you are going 2nd because 400

One of my Gen Con opponents bid for second. I think it will become really common with the new objectives. I expect some major bidding meta shifts after the campaign comes out.

If Rieekan was my MVP, I think Toryn with double BCC might be wondering why they didn't win on the sideline. Having three rerolls against ships with my B-Wings gave me lots of fishing options. And against squadrons, I was able to increase damage by 1 many times. Using FCT to position squads for double taps effectively increased my squadron count by 2, and it made a big difference.

Hurray for mercy rules! Haha, I kid I kid. The answer to being bad is to get better, not complain or whine. Step right up (play me) and get qualified! Guaranteed to increase your average!

I find the lack of players online disturbing.
