World Cup Qualifier - Rule and Signup Thread

Regarding vassal version:

Star Wars: Armada v.3.0.0 (new official build) should be out in the not-so distant future.

We're working on one last tweak (important and highly visual, but not exactly world-shattering) before it's ready.

Hope to have it ready by Sunday. But if not, it will arrive exactly when we mean it to.

Oh and you certainly can play on a Sunday. That date just works best for figuring out a Matchup of the Week.

Why the need to schedule 3 days in advance?

And this is about 12 of 24 remaining slots?

confused about that as well, there are 24 remaining you say, yet qualy is for 12?

In general, any reason for this complicated looking system? Open for all and just adjust the draw (32, 64), or do you plan pods? Dont get my asking wrong, just seems so diffeent from previous tourneys and curious why.

32 players with pod play.

The idea behind "schedule in advance" is so we can get people watching the games if they know when the games will happen.

As for 12 of 24, I thought this will be fun, and give us people more likely to play all their games into the POD play.

I will have a FAQ up later, but if FFG puts out one it will immediately supersede mine.

And CC/wave 5 cards? What's the verdict here?

And tournament legal ships / objectives only.

And squadrons, presumably.

If it helps, Biggs, this is the Alamo City Fleet Command Official Unofficial Temporary FAQ:

1) Is Jamming Field toggleable?

No.

2) Does G8 allow you to shut down the Engine Tech maneuver if you don't spend it on the regular maneuver?

Yes

3) Do multiple BCCs stack to give multiple offensive rerolls?

Yes

4) Do multiple Targeting Scramblers stack to give multiple defensive rerolls?

Yes

5) If you have Madine and Nav Team, does one nav token give you +2 yaw AND +/- 1 speed?

Yes

6) If you have Tagge and Devastator, do tokens still count toward the bonus dice for Devastator if they have since been recovered with Tagge?

No

7) Does Slicer Tools force the target to reveal its current dial to the opponent before it's changed?

No

8) At what precise point do you have to declare that you're using G8? Becomes significant when the opponent is deciding whether to spend a banked nav token--does the target ship get the opportunity to spend the token after the G8 is used? Does the G8er get the opportunity to trigger G8 after the token is used? Who declares the end of the Determine Course Step?

G8 must trigger immediately before the Determine Course Step begins--ie, declare it immediately when the opponent goes into his movement--meaning a nav command can respond to G8, but G8 cannot respond to a nav command.

9) Fire Control Team... just... everything about it.

The default crit was meant to stack with XX-9; XX-9 stacks with APT; face-down ACM damage is not dealt faceup by either the default crit or XX-9; and you only need one crit icon to proc two effects, as long as it's the right color for all crit effects you want to trigger.

Ill throw my hat in the ring.

Honestly though, I am fairly seasoned, and I have NEVER seen someone throw a hat into a circle to declare interest in a squabble, but I think that would make UFC a little more interesting....

I'm in as well.

5) If you have Madine and Nav Team, does one nav token give you +2 yaw AND +/- 1 speed?

Yes

Makes no sense.

Even the most liberal interpretation is +2 yaw (not buying it) OR speed change.

Have fun, everyone....

The World Cup brought out the best of everyone I watched (and read about) last time...

Here's hoping it'll be so again.

As of the middle of round 2 of the Deal or No Deal tournament, JJs Juggernaut is in the lead by 6 points. So far. I will not be playing, just thought you might like to know.

Count me in.

You will note I changed #5, otherwise I agree with these interpretations.

I might as well participate.

Add my name to the list.

I may not be able to find the time this next month, but better to at least attempt.

I agree, personally. I haven't gotten around to trying Madine yet so I didn't offer an opinion on that one when we were hashing these out. :)

I will give it a shot :) If nothing else it is going to help me get used to estimating distances on a 2d top down view of the board.

Also: for these lead up games, are we going to be flying the same fleet as if it were a tournament in and of itself, or can we tweak or completely overhaul week to week?

Sweet! Can't wait for this to start!

Now for some in-depth fleet testing...

Sounds right, the only thing I was surprised with is the fact that G8 is unable to trigger as a response to spending Nav token/dial. It'll simplify G8 resolution for sure, so lets see how it'll work.

Hmmmm I am late to the party. . . I am signing up if possible

I disagree with #7. If the crit which has the same wording or so lets you see the dial I dont why Slicer Tools would not let you see the dial.
