Crabbok Asks: "Is the Corellian Conflict Delayed"

By Drasnighta, in Star Wars: Armada

I ask because we kinda figure that if it doesn't have miniatures then it can be printed and shipped WAY faster. I kinda expected The Corellian Conflict to be on the boat already, and hopefully in stores soon, but it still says "At the Printer".

Also, for reference, this was announced AFTER the Imperial Assault Skirmish Maps, which have been in stores for like 2 weeks already. I'm assuming this is because they print the maps in-house and the cards for The Corellian Conflict are printed elsewhere...

I've never really tracked a cardboard-only expansion before so does anyone know what kind of timeline is realistic in this case?

This was (unforunately) posted in the X-Wing Forum due to a real-life situ, and unfortunately, hasn't been able to be copied over yet, for whatever reason...

So I'm doing Crabbok a favour here and putting it here... Because it does warrant some discussion.

Are we starting to see some of that Hanjin Shipping Crazyiness kick everything around, or is there something else?

Could that be why we're not seeing any more information in the News drop on it - holding off on that excitement building by FFG until they are closer to Delivery?

Given they could due a new article a out the new objective cards, the. Two weeks later rebels cards side, wait two weeks then imperials, then release two weeks later. So they could start almost a month out

Maybe. Its also possible they want to release conflict at the same time as wave five for balance purposes. I am pretty surprised its not on the boat yet, as I was fully expecting this to drop in October and now it seems like we are looking more at a november or december release.

Maybe we are in for a deluge of aricles.

Thing is, "on the Boat" tends to average out at about 1.5 ~ 2 months... Which would mean, even with a Month's worth of articles, its still another month before we see anything, even if it were to go On the Boat today (which it hasn't, despite a major update of the "Upcoming" page having happened.)

At least they are not On the Boat and stuck on a Hanjin ship that has been seized.

No, but they might be on the Dock waiting for a ship that has been seized, and thus, is at the bottom of the pile for reallocated shipping and won't see the sea for 4 months, as the worst case scenarios are predicting...

We need to call in the Expendables to save our Corellians.

At least FFG has a history of honesty and transparency when it comes to this sort of thing.

And a history of delays.

Well - to be fair, shipping or manufacturing problems are competitive business intelligence. FFG shouldn't tell us what business process problems they are having - we're retail customers not subscribers or shareholders.

The seized ship was headed for the middle east so we should be good there.

Thanks Dras - I had intended to repost this at some point over here but the morning went from slow to busy really quick and I am only now able to actually sit down for a minute and try to catch up.

Maybe we'll at least get a preview article for this thing soon!

I suspect this is a matter of the expansion was not printed in-house, unlike playmats. Even though this particular expansion has no ships I suspect it still is going through the full process. The cards may be easy to print, but it is also going to have many other components - such as a rulebook or two, large map sheet, cardboard obstacles and tokens, and it even looks like there is a die included in there.

So considering the variety of components, it may require 90% or more of the full development cycle, and the lack of plastic might not be as significant as initially expected.

Kind of on topic, it appears that the squadron stand token shown in the announcement spread is of Biggs Darklighter himself. 5 HP and what appears to be the bomber keyword.

Yeah I saw that also. But no "Escort". I bet he has "Mighty Moustache Mega Magnet" which means that everything has to shoot at him, even over escort.

I figured he would have Escort.

But his special rule would be "All Other Friendly Squadrons within Distance 1 lose the Escort Keyword."

I think it will be:

"Enemy Squadrons within distance 1 must attack Biggs"

I think it will be:

"Enemy Squadrons within distance 1 must attack Biggs"

There has to be more wording to it than that. because that creates two "must"s without stating which one is preferential.

"Must attack Biggs regardless of Escort", for example.

No, y' know what....

Escort : (Squadrons you are engaged with cannot attack squadrons without escort unless

There's a Cannot there... So you'd have to be removing Engage, because the Cannot of Escort would be Absolute, and you'd shoot Luke anyway....

Remember that Asmodee likes to release things all at once so long boat times are usually translated by other shipments hitting various ports so that they can achieve a near worldwide release as possible.

What about long printing times?

They went from printing to hand-crafting...

They went from printing to hand-crafting...

Cutting the paper and dials individually from the best Chinese wood forests where ewoks wished they lived....

I think one of two things would be causing the delay.

One, there might be a Rogue One tie in and they need to keep some details secret.

Two, they're trying to group shipments and the Conflict expansion is not going to happen until closer to the holiday season.

I have a hard time believing that they would show a production-ready box and not have the gameplay ironed out. But that also could be a possibility.

Then again, they did also state that the box that they showed off at GenCon was a "prototype" and "not final', because the Green Objective on the back was word-for-word the Red station Objective.... >.>
