With this card you may discard a command dial before you reveal it. I think I came up with two possible explanation to this rule but I can't find any reference that could without doubt confirm which one is true.

1) You discard the dial so you can reveal the next dial instantly (hence advancing your command queue by 1) but then you set two dials in the status phase?

2) You discard the dial to reduce your dials by 1 permanently but you can't reveal a new one (quasi-Relentless)?

3) The best things from both above?

The Rules state you always "Set an amount of Command Dials up to your command Value." in the command phase.

Which is why a command 3 Ship sets 3 Dials in the first turn... That's not an exception for the First turn, its what you always do...

If for some reason, all 3 dials were discarded halfway through a round, all you'd be doing next round is setting dials up to your value again.
