No Distintegrations

By Kyla, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I do like that they specifically called out three ships that are availiable in the x-wing miniatures. Perhaps there will be an official rpg rules expansion that uses the miniatures for the ship combat - specifically how to interpret a players talents to x-wing mechanics, or vice versa. There have been a number of people attempting to combine the two, and several x-wing articles that talk about the very thing.

Yeah, I hope they don't waste book space on that. I don't think they are going to do a full-on redesign of combat just to fit in mini's play.

Two of the new species in the book based on the new artwork would be Ubese and Zabrak.

I personally hope that the third species is Zeltron because both Luke Skywalker and his great-great-grandson Cade Skywalker had Zeltron bounty hunter girlfriends.

I also hope there is a Helot-class freighter.

The artwork is the least helpful way of figuring out what species might be in the book.

On the upside, I'm glad this book is finally announced. Mostly so there can be an end to the sky is falling!!! that seems to crop up when a book isn't announced.

YES. YES . YES.

It has been reliable though. If they show art with a species that species is in the book. I am not aware of a time it wasn't.

Freaking FINALLY!

I hope one of the new specs is based around piloting. Specifically, doing tricky stuff in your ship. Like when Obi Wan and Jango Fett had the dogfight in an asteroid field in Episode II.

The basic career includes piloting skills, both planetary and space, so it would make sense I think.

There have been way too many threads that have pointed out the disconnect between the artwork that they feature especially in the previews) and the species that actually show up. To some extent yes the artwork in the book will show the species, but it seems to be more often than not there is no link between the artwork they chose to highlight in the preview and the species that actually make the book.

^Well that is just not true at all.

Yihaaaaa!

I agree with this ... I hope they don't waste space in one of the RPG books on trying to integrate X-Wing. At most, maybe they could post free pdf downloads of rules and such into the player resources sections of the support pages.

However, I do own and play X-Wing, but do use the ships, which can be very cool and helpful when used to narrate the RPG as the PC's describe their actions. I use them in the same way I draw maps and use all the chits from the beginner games.

And I would LOOOVE to see stats for a Verpine slugthrower.

Check out Strongholds of Resistance.

I wouldn't read too much into the fact that the article refers to "sharpshooter" and "investigator", at least not so far as to assume those are the literal names of the two remaining specializations. While it's entirely possible that we'll get the Sharpshooter spec from AoR (although I hope not) the Investigator from EV will almost certainly contain Force talents, which would make it sort of meaningless to port it directly across to ND. It's more likely that FFG just used those words to describe the general role of the two specs rather than name them outright.

It's been pretty hit or miss. Savage Spirits was totally misleading (featured pictures of a Twi'lek, Lannik and Pantoran). Special Modifications was only accurate because we got the cover art, which showed a Besalisk; if that art were different, there wouldn't be an inkling. Time will tell about Endless Vigil.

Twi'lek are in the Core Rules... So that really is a logical choice to show.

Lannik were already released for F&D in Keeping the Peace so no one would think they'd be in the book.

Pantoran... I still don't get why they weren't in there. ****, I would have loved to see them!

I´ve been sooooooooooooo waiting for this!...

right in time for a christmas present it seems :P

You are making the assumption that the slow boat from China uses Western Holidays. Until I see it move into "Shipping Now" it isn't even on my purchase plan.

Why worry about that? I can't wait for all three lines to be complete so we can get "Big Book of Starships" "Big Book of Equipment" "Big Book of Aliens and Critters" etc. I'm tired of having to look through 50 books to find what i'm looking for.

Sounds like you could use an index !

What the heck are we going to complain about now that this is announced?

"Where are the Zeltrons?!?"

"Why are there no Jawas in this game!"

I'd be happy to make up whinging non-issues...

"Why doesn't No Disintegrations have 19 different types of manacles in the equipment section!?!"

"What are the stats for Palpatine's son, Triclops?!?"

"Why doesn't FFG acknowledge my Hoojib Sith Lords head canon?!?"

"Why aren't these books printed on flattened Funyons so I can eat them?!?!?"

We've already had at least 1 thread about how the new books smell. This could revive that thread!

What do you guys think, does "Within its ninety-six full color pages you’ll find new (...) species, three Bounty Hunter specializations and two Signature Abilities" imply that there will be more then three species?

(brackets and bold by me)

Index's are useful, more so since I'm pretty sure they won't be doing big book of's.

It certainly implies more than 1 since it's plural...

I concur that there will likely be Zabrak stats. I think Devaronian too.

I don't think they'd do two species reprints. There is the possibility of one being repeated but odds are strong they would leave the remaining two to be something completely new.

A guy can dream though. I think almost every "book buyer" would buy one just by putting a few new items into each one. The fact that everything would be in the same place plus new content would be a fantastic deal for me.

I'd buy gear/vehicle books. Although I could also see them releasing cards for that. Either would be better than page flipping I think.
