No Distintegrations

By Kyla, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Species? Bith, Jawa, and Zabrak. I saw what looked to be a Zabrak in a picture, and since this seems to spark confirmation theories (MiraLucas, am lookin' at you), I stake my claim to Zabrak. Tell me people chomp at the bit to finally play an Elom Soldier, if you dislike my species choices.

Are there any species who just scream, "I AM A BOUNTY HUNTER" other than Mandalorians? I'd heavily wager how most fans already have their ideal Bounty Hunter species in mind and simply want the specialization crunch, regardless of any new species.

Golf Clap to FFG for aligning their three most recent books across three lines with heavy synergy.

Endless Vigil , from F+D, gives us some urban adventurers (Sentinels) with their own savvy Streetwise goals.

Friends Like These , from AoR, gives us Mandalorians *cough* and supposedly lots of acquisitions...err, NPCs.

No Disintergrations , from EotE, gives us investigating Bounty Hunters and their contracts (and weapons, ships (nod to Racer specialization from Endless Vigil, too?)).

Also going to guess that Zabraks will be introduced to EotE, at least if the piece of artwork showing a couple of Zabraks is anything to go by.

Feeling validated from my last post, written as you wrote yours. :D

Lots of acquisitions.... good choice of words!

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Kyuzo reappear in this one. Of course, I'd rather see something that hasn't already appeared (like Barabel, Defel, or Houk).

I know the article says "fourth quarter," but the Endless Vigil was teased for third quarter, and September's just about wrapped up. I'm more inclined to think we'll see ND in January than in time for Christmas as some folks are undoubtedly hoping.

I'm hoping for December not because of Christmas, but for the same reason I'm fine with December for Friends Like These: the store I've gotten most of the books from tends to run a "buy 2/get 1 free" sale throughout the store for most, if not all, of December. There's some other stuff there that I'd like to get, as well, so it's perfect timing.

Okay, I think the most important question is this:

What the heck are we going to complain about now that this is announced?

I mean, sure, I'm always going to complain about needing the Mystic book, but what are you poor saps gonna do?

Marketing 101: Tease your customer base with sparse details to get them excited about purchasing your product.

I'm already excited!!!! I would be honored for this book to join us.

I wonder what species will be coming with this one. They better be good ones! Also, yes, new ships and weapons will be awesome.

But what I most want to see.....probably the specializations and new weapons.

Do we have EE-3 Carbine stats already?

And I would LOOOVE to see stats for a Verpine slugthrower.

We have the verpine shattergun already.

Awesome!

Not in one of the books I have, unfortunately, so I guess I need that one.

It´s in "Strongholds of Resistance"

DOES HE LOOK LIKE A BITH?!

Probably not... Stupid FFG and their anti-bith bias.

Not complete. At least 1 more region book and probably an adventure. Also i believe Abso also loves listed a couple mystery items with produxt numbers and no product Assigned.

"Complete" insofar as all 6 Careers will have 6 Specializations and Signature Abilities; there's no more asymmetry between how many options a given Career will have.

There's literally infinite design space for more pre-made Adventure modules or sector books, and they could even do a second wave of Career books if they wanted. But ever since Enter the Unknown came out I was always a tiny bit bummed that not ever Career had all those extra options. Now, all 6 Careers will have those options!

MiraLucas...d'uh! ;)

No Disintegrations: Shouldn't have doubted it.

Operator: something like Gunner with Overwhelm Defenses and Debilitating Shot. The only specialization revealed.

Always Get My Mark signature ability.

If you’re on the same planet as the person you’re looking for, have two Destiny Points to spare and can pass a hard Streetwise check, you’ll instantly find him. Even more, the Game Master then launches a new encounter beginning when you reach his location.

Mentions the Aggressor assault fighter and the YV-666 freighter as vehicles.

New gear mentions:

arm-mounted micro-rockets, rocket boots, precision rifles, inexpensive homing beacons, poisons, and even a holographic disguise matrix for when you want to meet face-to-face with someone, but avoid revealing your actual appearance

Also:

The book also goes in-depth on the type of adventure Bounty Hunters are best suited for: investigations.

Another ship mentioned in the article was the Fang, AKA the Protectorate Fighter, coming soon to X-Wing miniatures.

So excited for this! My current game is on hiatus waiting for this, soon we can start anew!

I'm very excited from the GM side about tips and tricks for a Investigation campaign, and of course, the X-Wing fangirl in me is excited for the Fang, Aggressor, and 666 to round out the Jumpmaster and Firespray. Of course there's the signature abilities and new careers. The Armor modifications will be neat to see as well.

What is everyone else interested in/hoping for?

I have to ask... your campaign STOPPED because you didn't have 2 sig abilities and 3 specializations and 3 species? Maybe a couple ships/guns? It had to... stop?

I've let my PC's take sig abilities from other careers if their career book wasn't out yet and mechanically, narratively, the ability makes sense.

With unlimited customizations, 18 careers, approaching 100 specializations, and any number of skill combos... what couldn't your PC's do that you wanted them to do?

Stopping for any reason is totally ok... it's not my campaign :) But I can't imagine anything coming in a splat book that would make or break our game nights.

What if the other two specs were the other two subject titles within the article? : Sharpshooter and Investigator?

Herm, given that assassin is already a specialisation I am less likely to think SharpShooter is a specialisation. The investigator would definitely fit the carear though.

Investigator is the name of one of Sentinel's new specs, in Endless Vigil, so that's out.

Well, both the Sharpshooter and Investigator specs already exist, in the Soldier and Sentinel, respectively. So that makes me think we will not get them in this book.

Now, Sharpshooter has an outside chance: the Soldier only has 1 repeated spec so far and the Bounty Hunter has 0,so they could both afford one, but I still think it's unlikely. And we will NOT be getting a Force-using spec as a career spec for a non-Force-using career, so no Investigator.

I thought about it for a second when I first read the article, too, but it's not gonna happen.

EDIT: Blast you, Blackbird :P ! Once again my propensity for elaboration has been my downfall!

Maybe Private Eye or Detective instead?

I have been soooo waiting for this to be announced, I can't say any details but we had a lot of fun play testing this one :-)

Detective I wouldn't mind! We could use a good mundane investigatory type! The Marshall isn't quite enough...

When you snooze...

Danm you! Another one on the boards! ;)

I do like that they specifically called out three ships that are availiable in the x-wing miniatures. Perhaps there will be an official rpg rules expansion that uses the miniatures for the ship combat - specifically how to interpret a players talents to x-wing mechanics, or vice versa. There have been a number of people attempting to combine the two, and several x-wing articles that talk about the very thing.

Samophlange, stop stop! What are you doing! That idea is forbidden around here!

Mostly because it's both ridiculous and impossible, but still! We don't need to get into that again!
