No Distintegrations

By Kyla, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It was a fun adventure overall.

Wow

Pirates truly don't care about NDA.

Pure anarchy in here.

:P

I'm excited about Kallerans.

The Last Padawan is probably the best of the new canon comics so far. And Kanans Kalleran buddy was a fun character.

I'm also interested to see if the Martial Artist can actually help us non-lightsaber melee fighters out a bit.

In my group, our marauder's vibroaxe is deadlier than our force-user's light saber, FWIW.

The marauder is consistantly WAY more scary and deadly than any Jedi ever could be.

Brawling specifically I mean. Especially more interesting talents that support Brawl combat. Stuff like Frenzied Attack, Defensive Stance and Feral Strength are pretty cut and dry in that regard.

Meanwhile Lightsaber users specifically have all kinds of crazy and fun stuff to play around with with the different Saber Forms.

In addition, My Repulsor Fist may go a long way on a good hit, but 2 turns downtime is pretty rough, and there aren't a lot of super useful or intriguing Brawl weapons.

ps: I'm also not that concerned about power or damage output. Just a desire for more interesting choices over here. ;)

Arrrr...

Been posting stuff like that awhile.....pretty sure the devs enjoy me torturing you all as well....

If they didn't, they'd ask you to tone it down. They haven't, so that means that they enjoy seeing us squirm!

I'm thinkin....and just got another playtest invite 3 days ago....

You could always get a second Repulsor Fist. Alternate using them and you only have one turn of downtime to worry about. If you happen to have three or more arms, repeat once again and have no downtime.

That will be nice to hear about... in six months.

9 months at best methinks.

Ehhhh, some are longer, some are pretty quick.

At least they didn't call it "Monk" ;)

Quoting myself for a moment because today at Disney Springs I saw the Rogue One figures. The martial arts guy with the funny crossbow is described on his package as a "monk" <<<sigh>>> :(

Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yens character) seems to be a follower/worshipper of the force without being overly force sensitive himself.

At least that was my impression so far from the trailers.

Wich seems to become a recurring trend in Disneys Star Wars. Maz Kanata and the Jedi "Church" guy on Jakku, whos name escapes me at the moment, seem to fall in the same category.

I'd say Monk is quite the apt description for such "practitioners" of the Force, no?

Any particular reason why people seem so adverse against Monks?

I'm adverse to the D&Dism of "monk = martial artist" when that's only true for a specific subtype of monks and for very, very few martial artists.

See, here's where different backgrounds yields different results. I hardly played any D&D back in the day, but watched the hell out of Shaw Brothers movies growing up - so for me "Monk" means Shaolin Kung Fu Asswhuppery:

I think martial artist leaves it right where it needs to be for a spec name, generic and accurate.

In regards to specs in the career, it seems to me in a galaxy of millions of planets with who knows how many different weapon and equipment laws/regulations, being able to disable and defeat a target with your bare hands and 'dodge' all those laws might be pretty 'handy'....my two creds...

Off Topic: One of these days, I need to see a top 50 list of Desslok's favorite (or maybe just recommended) movies. I feel like I'm missing out on so much.

Good point.

And if you want a bounty hunter that specializes in The later part of 'Dead or Alive'. Unarmed is a universal way to deal strain damage.

Tell you what, I'll think on it and perhaps send something to My Close Personal Friends™.

Several of the bounty hunters we see in TCW, most notably Latts Razzi, are skilled martial artist, so it fits.

Desslok -

you need to post that **** for us all to read...

If you go this route, may I humbly request if denote if it's currently available on Netflix (at the time the document was created. No need to continuously update it). Obviously, that's asking for a lot, but if you just happen to know, that would be fine too. No need to look up everyone one.

Hmmm, while I don't have a currently active netflix account (most of my movie watching is from my DVD/Blu Ray/Laserdisc/VHS collection), fortunately things like Can I Stream It exist! I'll see what I can do.
