No Distintegrations

Also, the lack of PDF's is thematic to Star Wars. If anything, FFG should release a droid that will read the rules to you.

And it shall be called S1-R1. But the problem with S1-R1 is that it will not be on the 'droid you're looking for.

So back to the book at hand... Do you think we will see the Ubese in this release?

Circumstantial evidence does, at least, suggest it, does it not?

There are too many possibilities to say the Ubese are assured. There is a slightly higher chance of them appearing as we see them in a movie (or, rather, we see someone disguised as an Ubese on screen, which may be close enough), but there are a lot of other bounty hunters out there to choose from.

And Anakin likely dealt with Rodents of Unusual Size on Tatooine (Womp Rats). That's a whole side story to the original trilogy I never considered, nor have I ever wanted to.

I’ve always wondered why they called them “Womp Rats”. Is that because they made a “Womp” sound when they blew up exploded because you hit them with a Light Laser Cannon from a T-16 Airspeeder?

EDIT: I decided that “exploded” sounded much better than “blew up”. I mean, can you imagine hitting a Womp Rat with a Light Laser Cannon? ;)

Having cleared gophers out of a garden with varmint rounds...yes, yes I can.

Yeah, and in the cartoons.

Quite a few just in one ESB scene.

You're thinking of Ugnaughts. Leia disguised herself as an Ubese Bounty Hunter named Boush in Return of the Jedi.

These are Ubese:

Sure, but we've already got all of the species.

I'd like to see the Rattataki . Aurra Sing was probably at least partially that species (my personal theory) and Asajj Ventress was originally supposed to be one but they changed her to Dathomiran during the Clone Wars series and just said she was raised on Rattatak. I think that species would be a good fit in the book.

There are also some interesting species from the Clone Wars episode The Box which would be interesting and are all hunters from canon.

True, I'm just countering the assertion that not many BHs were in the films.

So? I'm not interested in other posters' intents. Help me, I just cannot resist the opportunity to dump a lofty remark.

I am fully aware of all the bh in ESB... Of course, but the point was that there were plenty of choices for BH species from the movies. All those guys are accounted for though....

I didn't say what you apparently think I said.

True story: I felt really bad for Onca when Bulduga got shot by Bane. He looked so sad.

I also just feel like most Ithorians need a hug.

I may have a problem.

I wasn't replying to you...

Does the bug-eyed one from ESB have species stats?

Those are called Gand, and yes, they're in the Edge of the Empire core book pon page 47.

The BHs in ESB consisted of two humans, two droids, a Gand, and a Trandoshan. All of which were included as PC species options in the original CRB. I'm sure that the developers considered that core group of BHs to be good archetypes for the kind of gritty, law-dodging characters you'd find on the edges of the galaxy and wanted it to be possible for players to emulate them.

The most recent Ep of the Order 66 Podcast, Episode 84, has some rare behind the scenes information on how FFG chooses specie.

In particular Max Brooks again says that they have had a master list of species they want to include, almost from the beginning, but that the exact location of some of the species moves quite a lot. Also discussed by Max was some more detail on how they mix species in a book, saying that they like to have a near Human, an Oddity (unique ability or background), and one flexible spot for the most thematic species to fit in the book.

He also indicated that Disney had pushed hard for the Kyuzo to be included and aside from a small amount of detail they gave FFG the opportunity to flesh out their background, so the Mouse has some influence on not just the specific wording but also larger content choices in products.

Its actually a really great episode to listen to for more than the details on the book itself, with a lot of the "how and why" discussed about the development, at least a lot more than usual.

FWIW, the Kyuzo seem a lot more interesting than the Mustafarians, who zero people were asking to be included as a species.

Agreed. I think its super cool that FFG got given creative freedom, within reason, to flesh out a new species. I how we see more of it personally. Max also said that was his favourite part of this entire book, so i guess he and the rest of the team would love the opportunity to do more of that.

As far as species - what about Mandalorian Humans? Perhaps with a rank in Resilience and Ranged (Heavy)?
