Epic Ship Energy and Recover

By DarkTrooperZero, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I perform a recover action with an Imperial raider this uses all my energy on the ship card. Does this mean I can't then double tap the main gun as I have no energy. So I would nee extra abilities that let you decide how much energy to trade in.

Thanks

Yes, if you spent all your energy during the Activation phase, it won't be available to spend during the Combat phase. You can get around that for secondary weapons that use energy because you allocate their energy during the Energy phase, but you can't do that trick for the Raider's primary.

The Shield Technician Crew, Instigator Title, and Backup Shield Generator are very useful for shield regen shennanigans

Backup Shield Gen is kinda mandatory imo. It prevents such an issue for a few turns longer than usual.

Thanks all.

Haven't played much epic, is regaining 1 shield at the end of the turn really that good. Can see shield Tech being handy for 1 point

Thanks all.

Shield Technician is less useful than it appears. You need to decide when you are likely to use a Recover action at all. Eg I would do so when I am being shot at by less attacks in total than I will regain by Recovering, so that means using a lot of energy on regaining shields. The rest of the time, I am better off taking the Reinforce action - they are both on the same half of the ship, so you only get one of them each round. And Automated Protocols is less useful on a corvette than either Ordnance Tubes or Optimised Generators.

Backup Shield Generator works every round and is pretty much essential. I also like having a WED-15 repair droid, because there are some criticals that are absolutely crippling. The droid might only be used once or twice per battle, but it's better than the Construction droid when you really want to fix a crit!

Thanks for the help, yeah that seems fair an extra shield a turn over the course of the battle would be handy from the backup generator
