Edited by New Mexico is a real stateMy first attempt at painting SWIA, with help from sorostro and hobby lobby
Nothing wrong with using cheap paints. I use apple barrel from Walmart because they are fifty cents per bottle. I also use Reaper and vallejo because I can get them cheaper online than I can citadel paints. I also buy paints from Michael's when they are onsale. So don't be ashamed of using paints that you can afford.
Is there supposed to be an image?
I only use cheap paints too, I use what I can afford!
I have been mixing my own colors from some of my big painting acrylic tubes and also making my own washes using distilled water and a painters medium (2.99 at walmart) to prevent bubbles in my wash. Some of the other players have given me testors and some other odd brand paints so its starting to come together.
I use almost exclusively Testors. They are $1.69 a bottle, and they have a lot of natural looking colors. I have been able to do a lot of convincing cammo schemes. (Fenn has desert and Loku has Australian).

I'll try to get something up this afternoon. I don't have time now.
Those look great. And like many have stated, don't worry about cheap paints. You appear to not have any difficulty working with them.

Thank You! I am just a unhappy with the amount of paint it takes to replicate the colors correctly. And perhaps I find it easier to blame the paint over my own lack of godlike artistry "sorastro" esque. And that was before i really started delving into some of the amazing work you folks are putting out.
Figuring out lots of painting layering is one part of painting miniatures that i stubbornnely resisted for years...
So dont worry. You'll get there.
