X Happens: In defense of the Dodge result in Imperial Assault

By Rogue Dakotan, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I wanna see a character with two white dice that can reroll one of the white dice.

Like a white dice version of Vader.

In the future, yoda, forsee do I!

Yoda's ability reads...

Touch This, You Cannot: You may reroll 1 defense die, your dodges cannot be nullified.

and I see yoda as a tiny, feeble crippled puppet living in a mud hut. 0 defense 2 health but very powerful actions/abilities. More like a control figure like Jabba is.

I guess it's just another one of those things that doesn't make any sense about the prequels to me. How does 25-30 years make that big of a difference in an 850year old yoda puppet (I don't know what race he is) Do they all have crippling arthritis? Does the Humidity of Dagobah have something to do with it? In the original trilogy, Yoda (understandably) is on his deathbed and literally dies within months of the time we first meet him, 25 years earlier in the prequels, he's jumping and flying around like an angry hornet. Whatever.

He lost the will to live.

It's a common medical condition in that galaxy, apparently.

Age related deterioration can occur quickly. There's folk that are nimble into their 80s or 90s, but you get weaker as you age, you don't heal so well from injuries, and it takes longer to overcome disease. One day you're still ok, a week later you're dead. It happens.

Well after he fights Dooku in Ep2 and Palpatine in Ep3, you can see him hobble around like an old man again.

Just compare this to actual real life, my grandfather at the age of 85 fell and broke his hip while snow shoveling. Yes he was still snow shoveling 2+ years ago a 500 foot+ turnaround drive way. After that, he hasn't full recovered and his Alzheimer's has really kicked in, he has trouble feeding himself, pees/craps his pants, and it's been just 2.5 years since that happened. Amazing what happens to the body.

While I don't care for the prequels and I agree it seems odd to "age" that much over 25 years or so, but in reality, it does really happen.

Loved the article.

Just finished "White Noise" - Hoth, as the Imperial player. (Started as more GM than opponent and now after some close wins for the Rebels I'm morphing into "kill those Rebs however I can".) During this game my Officers rolled so many X's, that after one survived 4 attacks from two Heros a Rebel player pounded the table in frustration. :)

Sadly the snake bit me at the end, when with the game in hand, round 8, my last Officer rolls an X: only to have it fall off the table. Much rejoicing from the Rebs. :(

I had a skirmish game the other day where I put 2 officers next to each other to block off an area just to stall a little bit and have my opponent waste a Leia/Luke attack rather than killing off an elite probe droid. I ended up rolling something like 7 of 8 dodges and the two officers never went down. He rolled a lot of dodges that game as well. I'd say combined we were over 50% for the game. A two point officer taking that many 3 or 4 die attacks (focued) completely changes the outcome of the game. I basically just kept getting objective points behind the wall and waited for the officers to die which never happened. The other issue was that if he commited to moving past the officers he was going to be stuck against 2 focused elite probe droids with Sorin suport. So he really wanted to kill an officer and keep a corner in play.
