Palob's pilot ability vs. Manaroo's pilot ability

Say I am using Palob, my opponent is using Manaroo, and I have initiative.

If they are within range 2 of each other, would Palod be able to swipe a focus or evade token before Manaroo sends those tokens to another friendly ship (which, let's face it, will be Dengar...)?

Yes, but only if you have initiative. Of course, if you don't have initiative, you can swipe the token from Dengar after it's transferred, provided he's in range.

That's what I thought, but I had a guy try to talk me out of that recently. I reasoned it through with him, but I just wanted t make sure I wasn't completely off-base.

Initiative can become really important when these abilities occur. For example, Dengaroo vs old teroch: if Old Teroch is at range 1 of Dengar, you'd better hope (if you're Dengar) that you left the initiative to your opponent. That way Old Teroch's ability triggers first, then Manaroo transfers the focuses (and Dengar is very happy).

FYI - it's not always Dengar. I'm running Manaroo with IG88B and have done pretty well against most builds.

I only own one Jumpmaster right now, so found something else that works.

The only thing that you need to remember in this sort of situation is that when two things trigger at exactly the SAME time, initiative always decides who resolves their ability first.
