I like my rounds to be over quickly-- Resistance Chewbacca

By AEIllingworth, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm a big fan of breaks between rounds, and I'm now thinking about Heroes of the resistance.

Resistance Chewbacca (42)

Predator (3)

"Leebo" (2)

Smuggling Compartment (0)

Glitterstim (2)

Countermeasures (3)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

It steals Dengaroo's trick a little bit, you have two one time uses that make you nearly invincible for a turn. Fly straight at them, and pop Countermeasures and glitterstim. They either try to focus Chewbacca and don't do much while your cheap guns get free shots, or they give up shooting the YT for a turn and you probably get a free Predator Glitterstim shot or three.

Anything I could do differently? Leebo is to make up for the lack of Engine, but I'm a little disappointed I didn't have the single point for either Falcon Title.

If you want fast rounds, you want less ships and more ordnance

Or wait for rebel ties

If you want fast rounds, you want less ships and more ordnance

Yes - that's correct. To proc Chewbacca's ability, though you'll need that swarm. Meet in the middle and spend the points to get ordinance and Lt. Blount in there.

Alternatively, use all those Z-95s you have to make a Scum list using Feedback Array. Nothing ends a match quicker than self-destruction. Swap Chewie out for Manaroo or something that works in swarms. Sorry. Not helpful lol

Or wait for rebel ties

Shut your mouth

The main problem I see is that the Z-95s just don't hit hard enough with 0 mods, so some lists can afford to ignore them in the initial joust. Sure, Countermeasures + Glitterstim is a tough nut to crack on any ship, but Chewy only ends up with 2 agility while Dengar has 3 - he's not going to come out unscathed.

Don't get me wrong, I really like this squad idea (Glitterstim on this Chewy is brilliant), but I'd make some changes to your wingmates. 4 ships is a little excessive - you're probably not going to lose all 4 z's in a given round, and once Chewy's popped his glitter he's going to die pretty quickly. Here's what I'd do instead:

Chewy (42)

- "Chopper" (0)

- Smuggling Compartments (0)

- Glitterstim (2)

- Countermeasures (3)

- Predator (3)

- X-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)

- Either title (1)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x3

- Concussion Missiles (4)

- Guidance Chips (0)

Yeah, focusing to use X-23s is a little bit of a nonbo with Glitterstim, but the bandit's don't have the pilot skill to get the locks themselves. You give your opponent a rough choice - kill the Zs and take extra shots from Chewy, or focus on Chewy and get roasted by the missiles. What do you think?

I like the Concussion Missiles, you have enough firepower there smoke a U-boat. Now if only you could find 3 points to upgrade them to Talas....

Stim and Countermeasures don't make you 'nearly invincible'. You get an average of 1.25 evades per attack at range 1 or 2, which against well modified attacks is definitely not invincibility.

Yeah no I shoot you with a TB and your invincibility disappears real fast, then I kill chewie first because frankly the headhunters are no real threat.

End result he never processed his ability once.

Defenders and crackswarms will eat him alive.

48 Newbacca w/ Rage, C3P0, Chopper, Compartment, Glitter.

51 (3x) Tala w/ Concussion, Chips.

1 Initiative.

For God's sake, jut let the wookie win!!!

Maybe drop the Init bid for Threadtracers on the Falcon. Make it easier to launch your missile salvo.

Agree with Karahedron. Threadtracers + Guidance Chips on Falcon is more valuable than an initiative bid, particularly with Chewy on your team. Honestly I'd almost consider dropping Glitter in that build; Rage has you covered on offense and 3P0's great on defense. Plus triple stress is pretty rough even with Chopper in the mix.

Then it would be over quickly, like I was hoping!

This list will probably win or lose quickly but it should make for decisive gaming. Either your alpha strike will do enough damage that Chewie can mop up or you will get pecked to death.

One thought - Is it worth throwing Chewie in with Biggs?

Well, you can guarantee Chewie's ability will kick in at least once. :D

The trouble is that Chewie and Biggs have only 6 red dice between them meaning your damage output is mediocre. A lot will depend on what you add as you last ship. Maybe a Tala with Homing Missile and Chips would help in the damage stakes and give you something to pop Soontir's stealth device?
