I have 3 people that are keen to play and another 2 newbs in our play group who haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. That is 6 players. I know some people suggest campaign but with 2 imperial players but the group is keen to be a bit more competitive and do skirmish.

I was thinking either do a 3v3 map one side imperial one side rebel as I have 2 copies of the base game and every expansion. Does anyone know or have tested a big map like that. Else thinking 1v1 1v1 1v1 tournament using 3 maps but which maps would work with the collection I have.

If there is any other suggestions as to how to make this day go smoothly I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't know how you people are of course, but if you are a little more competitive minded, I'd go for the 3x 1v1 and rotate. The games are short enough, that you should be able to get a handful under your belt. Let people build a squad, and then do adjustments throughout the day. I'd love to have such a day, tweaking lists slowly through testing, rather than theorizing.

I would suggest sticking to 1v1, or rotate in a 4 player skirmish for variation. There are no 3-player skirmish maps, with good reason, because 3-player games are notoriously hard to balance.

Another vote for 1v1 matches, however the maps you'll be able to build from 1 core might be difficult, it'd probably help if you can get some printed maps but appreciate you might not get those on time now.

I normally demo using 30pt squads so you could always do a couple smaller games with fixed 30pt squads first then a full game with them choosing their own squads?

How much do you own? You could potentially make 2 maps out of the core set (perhaps with one or two fill in tiles) and run 2, 1v1 games at the same time.

If you have enough components and figures to go around.

If you own something like Return to Hoth then you could easily make two maps (maybe even 3).

The Hoth expansion also has a 4 player map, in which case you could play with 4 teams where the 2 new players are helped by 2 other players who have played before.

Got 2 core sets, 1 hoth, 1 bespin, 1 twinshadow.

I buy multiply sets for example 3 sets of wookie warriors so I should be good figure wise.

I am going to spend Friday evening playing around and seeing what maps I can build. Do people have a recommended list of maps to use? Thinking one map that favors many groups and one that favors few strong units.
